I just got the lovliest treat. I’m visiting my parents in their retirement community for the weekend. All of the women on their street threw me a surprise bridal shower. They didn’t even tell my mom, so she was surprised too! I hardly even know these women, and they were so sweet to me!
It was so adorable – tables set out on the patio for lunch, a piano that played itself (I didn’t even know these existed!), and a lovely buffet.
All of them contributed a spice and a recipe, so now I have a complete spice set and about 25 new recipes. How cool is that? Old ladies rock.

That is so sweet! What a wonderful blessing for you! I love that they also each provided a spice and a recipe for you!
I had a similar experience when I was engaged. The choir director at the church where my husband pastors decided to host a bridal shower for me. She and many of the ladies of the choir — most of whom I did not know at all, since I lived in another state and was only able to visit my fiance occasionally — wanted to bless me because they really love their pastor and wanted to do something special for his fiance. They were so generous and kind, and I was very blessed by their thoughtfulness.
These ladies obviously care very much about your mother and wanted to do something special for her daughter!
