So, I have been curious about this….
This past weekend, my mother and bridesmaids threw me the most amazing surprise shower! It was at a local restaurant where I THOUGHT I was just going for a small lunch with a girlfriend, and then I walked in and saw all of my out of town friends and family, and I could not have been more excited! We had about 40 guests, and not one of them slipped during the planning process. It was an amazing day!
But I am curious….where I live (NJ) we ALWAYS throw surprise showers, both baby and wedding. In fact, even if the bride or mother to be finds out early, we still pretend it’s a surprise. And it’s not just my family…my local friends’ and coworkers’ showers have all been the same. But my future in laws, who live in the mid-west, said they have never even heard of a surprise shower, and my girlfriend in VT not only knew about her shower, she planned the whole thing herself!
I am curious….was your shower a surprise? Or did you know about it? Is it a regional thing?

My shower was supposed to be a surprised but my BIL leaked it. He can’t keep a secret about anything LOL. I was glad I ended up finding out though, since I have a little bit of social anxiety and might have freaked lol

My Maid/Matron of Honor wanted it to be a surprise but one of my BM’s mentioned it in front of me, thinking I knew. She’s all, “oh yeah, I need to e-mail (MOH) about your shower” and I was like, “my WHAAAT?” I assumed I wasn’t having one!

Since I live an ocean away from my family, sadly it could not be a surprise.
I have no idea what they are planning, but I do know where/when I am supposed to show up. I’m a bit bummed that we have to have it on a weekday (because we’re flying in the week before the wedding), and that means some of my favourite family members and friends won’t be able to make it. But they have had 4 ‘planning committee’ sessions over the last month, so I am certain it is going to be amazing!!

My family knows better then to throw me a surprise shower, it’s just not my thing. I’ve only been to one, the bride figured it out but she was nice enough to act surprised for us. Not only was it obvious b/c her family came in from oot, but she ran into her cousin at the mall as she was buying a dress for her shower.

I only know the date and nothing else. Nothing other than the drama my Future-SIL is causing, or caused. Knowing just the date is nice, I have bought an outfit and have an appointment for a spray tan in time for it, just to be all ready… but still feel surprised, wondering where and what, etc.
