I am an amazing singer but I am not completely unfortunate. My close friend is playing acoustic guitar during our ceremony under a big tree with silver stars and festoons. We decided against a choreographed dance because, well, it’s just not my FI’s thing and we really didn’t have time. So I decided to enlist the help of another singer songwriter friend of mine to get me through one easy song. memorable, hopefully in a good way, not a breaking the glasses way.
We don’t have a song, nor do we really have the same taste in music so I thought either something that could be our song or a song of his that he loves. I don’t want to bore people either so I thought it should be short and sweet.
Any other suggestions besides the ones I listed?

I voted for Cake. I think that would be really fun, but you should figure out what you’re comfortable doing. A surprise song sounds like a great idea – what a special way to add another memory to the day!

The problem with “Kiss Me” is that it’s just the same words over and over again. It never changes. Now, that could be good, because you could cut it off to keep it short and simple. On the other hand, I think there have to be songs out there that are short and have some forward action (something like “The Luckiest” or “You to Thank” by Ben Folds, although those would probably be more appropriate for a guy!)

I voted for Sixpence None the Richer because it sounds great with an acoustic guitar, it is a female vocal, and because the lyrics are sweet and work with your setup! I think it’s the perfect song, and I know as a guest I’d be gushing “Awww!” hearing this! Go for it!

“I Believe In You and Me” Whitney Houston. I am not sure of your vocal range, but the lyrics are perfect:
I believe in you and me
I believe that we will be
in love eternally…well as far as I can see
You will always be the one…for me
…and so on and so forth. It’s beautiful with music or acapella

I vote for sixpence none the richer b/c the lyrics describe exactly where you’ll be singing…
I too am a singer (over 20+ years) but would be far too nervous to sing at my own wedding! I sing at all my friends’ instead! lol!

what’s the theme/feeling you’re going for with your wedding? maybe you could tie that in to the song selection.

“Kiss me” for sure! I also plan to sing that during my reception, but it won’t be a surprise song because I am trying to convince my fiancee to play the guitar for me 🙂

I picked Kiss Me, such a cute song! My fiance and I both went (well I still go) to the same university for music, so we’re planning on doing something for our wedding, we just have to figure out what!
