I loved my Asscher, but after a few months of wear, it became very apparent that the setting was too high (and too unstable) for a klutz like me. I loosened a prong twice, and actually bent the mounting. At my last appointment, my local jeweler came out to tell me my ring was “quite delicate” and that I shouldn’t be wearing it at work (I wasn’t), or around the house when cleaning (also was not doing that), and I needed to consider some structural changes (none of which I liked for my stone, or my hand).
I hashed it over with my Fiance, and we decided to go a completely different route, and use JA’s upgrade policy. . .something I didn’t ever see myself doing, but I felt a little better since we hadn’t been married with the ring yet.
my goals: for the new ring to sit lower, be flush with the band we had picked for me, and be a step cut.
her goals: something a little flashier, that also met my needs.
stats, for anyone who might be curious: center is 1.5, D, VVS2 emerald cut, and the halo is a knife edge with milligrain, just like my Asscher.
