Anyone here done one? My groom has a mother/son dance and I won’t be having a father/daughter dance…so I was thinking of doing a surpsrise wedding dance. Myself (as well as some of my bridesmaids and some wedding guests) used to be NFL cheerleaders and I know we can pull it off. Just wondering if any of you have done it and if anyone found it cheesy? Complicated? or just plain awesome?! I recognize there may be a generational divide on whetehr it is appropriate or not
We are thinking I will say that I want to share a few words about to my groom…I will start a speech adn then act surprised that the music is coming…and go. Thinking Beyonce’s ‘Crazy in love”

Personally, even if I could dance I would never do this. Too many variables, too many things that could go wrong, too much sweating in my wedding dress.

That sounds awesome! You should go for it

Letshaveakiki: my mom is good friends w a girl who owns a dance studio. So for my Bridal Shower, this girl is going to come teach all the ladies at the shower a choreographed line dance to do at the reception. I requested the song ‘Pretty Girl Rock’ by Keri Hilson. I wanted it to be a “girl power” kind of thing since itll be all the ladies. I’m pretty excited about it. I think itll be cute- and keep my bridal shower from being so cookie cutter 🙂

Honestly, I think it’s really cheesy and overdone. I always feel so much second hand embarassment watching stuff like this.

Lots of DH’s cousins did this, it was super cheesy, and actually pretty embarrassing for the people doing it, they all dreaded it. Darling Husband was suppose to do on in his cousins wedding because they bride wanted them to, two weeks before the wedding they cancelled the dance because everyone hated doing it. Also finding time for everyone to practice and learn a dance is a big inconvience even just for close friends.

Letshaveakiki: it really depends on the couple.
it sounds like this is something that is right up your alley and it will be fun and silly. It is cheeset but I think people will enjoy it.
I think you should go for it!

Go for it! Last year my cousin choreographed a flash mob that included every wedding guest (75 ppl) in different phases as a surprise for her sister, the bride. It was awesome and so special. I love cheesy and if you can’t be cheesy at a wedding then when can you?

if you think it’s fun, and your friends and family are enthusiastic, then go for it. 🙂 who cares if some people think it’s cheesy and embarassing? that’s on them.
