My sister & her fiance are planning a surprise wedding. I shouldn’t know but when I was there the other day I did some laundry for her & when I was putting her clothing away I opened a drawer & right on top was a document which had the words CONGRATULATIONS ON CHOOING (VENUE) FOR YOUR WEDDING in big letters on the top…I closed the drawer immediately & put the folded washing on her bed & pretended I was too lazy to put it away.
Anyway, the cover story for this wedding is a combination of her birthday & a celebration of her fiance getting the all clear from the surgeon after a pretty horrific accident earlier this year so gifts would be purchased anyway…for her birthday at the very least! So I’m wondering if I should buy them a more weddingy type gift for the occasion?
I was thinking a nice cutlery set or some fancy stemware. They bought their first home late last year & almost everything they have is hand-me-down or second hand shop finds (nothing wrong with that, it’s how I started out but I thought that something that had never been owned by anyone else & that is a little bit special might be nice)…
EDIT: They were planning a big fancy wedding for this year but when they bought the house they decided to wait until 2017 because they preferred to put money into the house than a wedding (smart cookie my sister!) but I think the accident has maybe made them just want to get married & more focused on their life together than a party. I feel like they deserve something nice!!!!!
