Comparison is the theif of joy.

Interesting you feel the need to point out theirs are moissanite and yours is a diamond, though.

    MrsBuesleBee:  OUCH!

OP-MrsBuesleBee is right, even though it stings a little bit to read comments like that since I’m a proud  moissy owner (AKA tell everyone what it is and don’t let them believe for one second that it’s something it’s not.  If it indirectly supports the diamond industry, great!  Have absolutely nothing against diamonds.  Feel the need to post that Public Service Announcement on most posts lol).  I love my moissy, but yeah there are times that I see a girl with a nice new diamond ring and think “damn…I would really like to have a diamond again.”  A lot of girls who have moissy find themselves in the position where they have to explain their decision, which of course is labeled inferior since it’s an imitation.  So it is very true-while you’re pining for the finger coverage, they may be doing the same for your diamond.  It’s a “grass is greener” type situation.

snickerwickens:  totally. Sorry to ouch you though. And moissanite owners feel better when they remembered what they paid, double refraction, and lab made is a plus for some not a minus. It’s human nature to compare with the joneses but everyone just needs to remember why they got what they got and be proud of it.

The “Ouch” is forgotten!  And yes, agree with your whole comment, there can be negatives and positives with pretty much everything, so it all comes down to preference.

snickerwickens:  Im so guilty for not telling people that its a moissy  When they say it’s beautiful, I thank them without saying much bc its is truly a beautiful ring. But if they ask for the cost, I would tell them the truth. I have to explain why I get it not bc I think its inferior. Mainly bc most people know about diamond only.

I had a choice of buying both bc I bought my own ring. They look almost the same and it just a sign to show that Im engaged to the love of my life (even though I believe the ring thing is a marketing stratergy also) but I love big bling on my finger so it didnt matter.

I actually never get envy. Fiance love it and I have excuses to buy an expensive wedding dress, a new pair of Louboutin and a Prada bag and still “save” money.

Honestly, I opened this thread after reading the title and thought I was going to see an extremely small diamond (and even if it was I’m sure it would still be gorgeous). BOY, was I wrong! I think your ring is stunning and has great finger coverage! Don’t compare, just think about the proposal and how you’re going to spend the rest of your days with your amazing Fiance. 🙂 Congratulations on your engagement!

Your ring is beautiful OP and congratulations! Like others have said, it’s hard to be around people who constantly compare and compete. Perhaps try excusing yourself or changing the subject if they insist on being nosy or petty. I would try to do some self-care stuff in your free time if it’s truly effecting your self-esteem.

Your fiance bought you a stunning symbol of his love for you and what anyone else has on their finger shouldn’t matter. I hope you enjoy your engagement!

mtmt1311:  oh yes, I meant when we say “thanks! It’s a moissanite!” then we end up explaining about the stone a bit because other people sometimes treat it as inferior once they know it’s not a diamond 😉 sorry I wasn’t meaning to say that my opinion/feelings are the same for all moissy wearers, everyone is different!

Your ring is beautiful and blingy. There are TONS of people with a ring smaller than yours, and how do you think they feel?

Just wear yours and stop comparing it b/c honestly non engaged people could care less about the carat count.
