How did you meet your SO? We were assigned to the same dorm in college. We started talking online every day before finally meeting that fall! I was moving from America to England by myself and his friendship really helped the transition and homesickness.

How long have you been together? Five years this Saturday!

Who said I love you first? He said it after one month together!

Do you live together? Yes, for 2.5 years.

When’s the last time you saw your SO? This afternoon at lunch

When do you think you’ll be married? 2016 or 2017

Would you stay with your SO if they wouldn’t marry you? No, probably not. Only because I know how important marriage is to him, so if he didn’t want to marry me it would mean he didn’t see a future with me specifically.

What’s your favorite memory of your SO? When he told me he wanted to move to America to end our long distance, and then when we flew back to America together to finally start our lives in the same country!

How long have you been ready for getting engaged? He started bringing up engagement rings in May 2013, so probably around then.

What would drive you apart? Abuse, refusing to get help for an addiction, and most likely adultery.

Your perfect wedding with your SO? Small wedding or elopement.

How did you meet your SO? A co-worker brought this cute guy to my work Christmas party. I just had to talk to him and after intermittently talking to him all night he finally asked for my number.

How long have you been together? A month shy of 3 wonderful years!

Who said I love you first? Technically, he did about a month in but I didn’t hear him(he claims it was while we were arguing in the back of a cab after a night drinking.) I said it for the first time two and a half months after we started dating(just after we finished moving in together!) He started tearing up and after the most agonizing minute of my life, he said it back.

Do you live together? Yes, we moved in together after we had been dating for only two and a half months! When you know, you know.

When’s the last time you saw your SO? This morning when he was getting dressed for work.

When do you think you’ll be married? May 24th, 2015… At least that’s the plan!

How long do you see being with your SO? Forever! Honestly, I can’t imagine my life without him.

Would you stay with your SO if they wouldn’t marry you? Of course! He knew I would stay with him regardless of his decision to marry me and he still chose to propose to me! He told me, up until the last 6 months, that he would never get married but if he ever did that it would be to me. Needless to say, his family was shocked when he showed them the ring!

How long have you been ready for getting engaged? Gosh, almost two and a half years before he actually proposed… It was a very long wait.

What would drive you apart? Cheating. I have always been very clear that there would be no second chance if he ever cheated. I can’t imagine that he ever would.

Your perfect wedding with your SO? were planning our ideal wedding which is a very small ceremony in a vinyard up in Paso Robles.

How did you meet your SO? We met working at the mall, actually. He saw me, we chatted for a few minutes and he asked me to go get some food with him and some of his friends after work. I said no because I had plans to visit my grandparents that day. We exchanged numbers though, and had our first date a few days later!

How long have you been together? We have been together a little under two and a half years.

Who said ‘I love you’ first? He did. We were laying in bed, and he rolled over and said “I have something to tell you and you have to promise not to get mad.” I cried because I was so shocked and happy. I said it back about 15 minutes later. πŸ™‚

Do you live together? Yes.

When’s the last time you saw your SO? This morning before he went to work.

When do you think you’ll be married? Most likely in the summer of 2016 or 2017. We aren’t the best financially, and I’m dealing with some health problems, so we have to wait a while.

How long do you see being with your SO? I’m in it for the long haul. I am a serial committer.

Would you stay with your SO if they wouldn’t marry you? Honestly? If he flat out refused to marry me, probably not. It means a lot to me, so it’s a deal breaker. Luckily I don’t have to worry about that.

What’s your favorite memory of your SO? There are too many good ones. Picking a single memory is too hard. We’ve been through a lot and done so much together in our two short years being together. Every memory is my favorite, as lame and sappy as that sounds.

How long have you been ready for getting engaged? I’ve been ready since six months in to our relationship haha. But we are picking the ring together, and I just have to find something I like within our budget. It should be happening within the next few months!!!

What would drive you apart? Drugs, cheating, and frequent dishonesty.

Your perfect wedding with your SO? In the summer in his parents backyard. I want everyone I love to be here to celebrate with me as I marry the love of my life.

How did you meet your SO? he was a customer at work. i was the barista in a green apron.

How long have you been together? Four and a half years

Who said I love you first? I did technically… over text message. he said it first in person.

Do you live together? No. Not yet. He recently asked me again though. Not in passing, but he actually sat me down and had valid reasons why we should move in together. I have some reservations though because I want to be engaged to be married (no long engagement) before I move in with him.

When’s the last time you saw your SO? This morning.

When do you think you’ll be married? when we last talked about it, he gave me a timeline of 5 years for us to be married with a little one, which I am okay with but, recently he asked me for my ring size when I told him I wanted an engagement ring for Christmas so who knows.

How long do you see being with your SO? Ideally, for the rest of my life.

Would you stay with your SO if they wouldn’t marry you? No. He knows how important getting married and having kids are to me so if he didn’t want to marry me but said it just to placate me I wouldnt stay with him.

What’s your favorite memory of your SO? I have so many with him. He makes me so happy.

How long have you been ready for getting engaged? since we first talked about it, so about two years.

What would drive you apart? death till us part right?

Your perfect wedding with your SO? I want a traditional tea ceremony (I’m Vietnamese) and a brunch reception with a wedding cake made with a stack of pancakes And free flowing mimosas.

So many great love stories! Its so cool how many places you all have met your SOs

How did you meet your SO? At a party during welcome week in college – I know, I know…

How long have you been together?  3 years!

Who said I love you first?  He did after a year and a half. He said “he didn’t want to say that to anyone he wasn’t thinking he would marry”. It bugged be so much waiting but it is now a big milestone for us and I loved it being such a major step in the relationship.

Do you live together?  Nope. But only 10 miles apart πŸ™‚

When’s the last time you saw your SO? A few days ago

When do you think you’ll be married? Maybe another 3 years. We want at least 2 years to plan and enjoy being engaged.

How long do you see being with your SO? He’s my best friend so I hope forever! But you can’t always bank on those things, realistically.

Would you stay with your SO if they wouldn’t marry you? I am undecided. In my heart of hearts no, but I think it would depend how I feel 4 years from now.

What’s your favorite memory of your SO? Spending a lot of time together at school. Late night studying, getting take out super late to bring to the library, going to parties together. Such great college memories beacuse of him. Also, just having the random heart-to-hearts! You know the times when a conversation turns so personal and it pretty much started with talking about a TV show you just watched?

How long have you been ready for getting engaged? A few months. I’m a newbie!

What would drive you apart? Cheating, a life sentence in jail maybe?

Your perfect wedding with your SO? A bit on the small side, non-traditional. Just a big party where everybody feels like one big family

How did you meet your SO? We actually first met when I was 15 and he must have been 16 or 17. He was doing the roof plumbing on my parents’ house. He was one of my cousins best friends, and at that age I was like ‘meh’. I went and told my cousin something and afterwards my SO said to my cousin ‘Who is THAT!?’ and my cousin said ‘Don’t EVEN think about it’ (ie. stay away from my cousin lol). 8 years later and both single I said what the hell and contacted him and we went out for drinks, the rest is history.

How long have you been together?  4 years in Feb 2015

Who said I love you first?  He did, it took a while but we are the kind of people who don’t say those words unless we really mean it

Do you live together?  Yes

When’s the last time you saw your SO? 5:30am when I dropped him off at the train station

When do you think you’ll be married? Hoping by the end of 2016….

How long do you see being with your SO? For the rest of my life. He is perfect for me.

Would you stay with your SO if they wouldn’t marry you? If we were just engaged I guess I would. But having NO commitment at all, no.

What’s your favorite memory of your SO? He hated cats, I finally whinged enough and we got a kitten, he fell in love with the kitten too, and seeing him laying on the couch with the kitten in his arms like a baby melts me every time!!!

How long have you been ready for getting engaged? Probably about 6months, it has been on my mind alot. His brother and his partner recently got engaged… It’s a good excuse to bring up our own engagement and wedding plans/timeline though πŸ˜‰

What would drive you apart? Cheating would definitely drive us apart…

Your perfect wedding with your SO? A spring wedding in the forest/woods would be perfect. The entire thing would be outdoors

How did you meet your SO? POF! I was getting frustrated with the whole process, then I found his profile sent him a message and anxiously waited for him to respond. We hit it off immediatly in messages, and a phone call shortly after. Everything just FITS. I was a little hesitant at first as I had a history of getting burned early on, but his interest never faded and just kept getting stronger and it didn’t take long for me to finally feel comfortable admitting that this is it.

How long have you been together?  Almost 3 months!

Who said I love you first?  Ha, funny story. Between our second and third date we were talking on the phone and said goodnight and he ends the convo with “love you” and hung up. It took a moment for it to register and I was thinking… wtf?! He called back and second later and said “I’m so sorry. That was weird. It just slipped out, I hope you don’t think I’m a big creep now”. Hahaha it was cute. At this point I feel like the REAL first “I love you” is coming any day. He calls me “my love” and I am definitely head over heels for him, but I want him to say it first so I’m waiting!

Do you live together?  No, but it’s been discussed.

When’s the last time you saw your SO? 2 days ago. We usually see each other every other day or so!

When do you think you’ll be married? Likely 2016. I really love fall weddings…

How long do you see being with your SO? I’ve no plans to not be with him, so the unforeseeable future lol

Would you stay with your SO if they wouldn’t marry you? Tricky question. To be honest this is something that is important to me, so maybe not. I know he wants to though so I don’t really worry about this.

What’s your favorite memory of your SO? I’m soooo excited that we have so many memories coming still, but as of now I’d say our 3rd date he took me to this retro diner and he was just so nervous and adorable. He kept going on about how his cheeks hurt and I gave him butterflies, lol. He said he was going to delete his POF profile because he was serious about me and really wanted this to go somewhere. I guess it was just in that moment I realized how much he liked me and I realized I wanted the same thing.

How long have you been ready for getting engaged? I’d say it’s been about a month that I’ve really realized that we’re headed in that direction.

What would drive you apart? Cheating or any thing that would show a major lack of respect.

Your perfect wedding with your SO? Small ceremony in the mountains next to a brilliant green lake in the fall!

How did you meet your SO? We were neighbors living in the same apartment building. I saw him walking inside one day while I was outside walking my dog. I felt like the world stopped because everything was in slow motion as we looked at each other and our eyes locked. From that point I had to determine from the list of names on the mailboxes who he was. I found him online and messaged him a friendly hello. He gave me his number, I called, he came over, we talked all night and have been inseperable ever since.

How long have you been together? 3.5 wonderful years.

Who said I love you first?  He did. I didn’t say it back for a long time, until one day I just blurted it out while cuddling. I’ve only experience this one other time, but in my past relationships I’ve realized that when I say “I love you” and mean it — it usually takes a lot of courage for me to get the words out. I’ve said it easily before with others, but I’ve come to realize it was because I didn’t mean it.

Do you live together? Yes, we waited a year and a half to live together, and we’ve lived together for 2 years now.

When’s the last time you saw your SO? This morning.

When do you think you’ll be married? 2015 is the goal.

How long do you see being with your SO? Umm .. forever?

Would you stay with your SO if they wouldn’t marry you? That’s a tough question. Marriage is vitally important to the rest of my life. I don’t believe in having kids out of wedlock so if I wanted to have children, then the answer would be no.

What’s your favorite memory of your SO? Our first kiss. It was so awkward and adorable. I was the first girl he has ever kissed so that moment was very special.

How long have you been ready for getting engaged? A long time now. We both agree that we knew it the moment we met. We’re ready but waiting for reasons beyond our control.

What would drive you apart? Our careers. This has been an issue in our relationship. I forsee our future full of travel and living in different places before settling into a house or family life. He is a muscian and needs to be well established in an area to make a living. With my job, I could get hired anywhere, which makes it difficult to choose a forever home that we can both agree on.

Your perfect wedding with your SO? Simple and sweet. I wanted to elope because our families are crazy. He agrees, but it’s a tough choice because we don’t want to offend anyone or hurt their feelings. I just want a small intimate ceremony between the two of us and maybe a few friends.

What a cute topic! πŸ™‚

How did you meet your SO? – Facebook! We were members of the same group, and he sent me a friend request, along with a message re: the forum topic we were participating in. We talked sporadically, met IRL for the first time a year and a half later, and became exclusive a month after that.

How long have you been together?  Almost five years.

Who said I love you first?  He did, on our first date. If anyone else had done this, I would have been creeped out, but it was very sweet. I said it back about a month later.

Do you live together?  Yes – He moved in so we could formally end our long-distance relationship

When’s the last time you saw your SO? This morning at breakfast

When do you think you’ll be married? I have no idea, truly. If I can’t get a guy to ask me after all these years together, I must be an impossibly difficult woman

How long do you see being with your SO? I love him, but if after 5 years he hasn’t proposed, we’re done in March. Not a threat or an ultimatum; I don’t wave the date over his head, I’ll just need to move on πŸ™‚

Would you stay with your SO if they wouldn’t marry you? Nope! Life is hard, I want a partner willing to build with me, and marriage (to me) is a necessary foundation. A partner doesn’t deserve years of my time if they can’t even ask for my hand in marriage.

What’s your favorite memory of your SO? The night we kissed for the first time. It was like we were the only ones there, despite the bar being super-crowded. Also last week when he bought me cookies.

How long have you been ready for getting engaged? About a year. I woke up one morning, looked over at his snoring butt, and came to the realization that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.

What would drive you apart? Lack of a proposal by my walk date, cheating, eating the last cookie (I wouldn’t mind if he asked first though)

Your perfect wedding with your SO? tiny sunset ceremony by the beach with no crying babies, small, intimate dinner with unlimited drinks and no crying babies, fireworks, and 3 or so months off of work to enjoy each other’s company

How did you meet your SO? We actually were one of the lucky ones who met online. POF.com to be exact. Two weeks of talking on the phone led to our first date. The first day he messaged me, I just about didn’t respond. Had a horrible day at work, but now i am glad I did.

How long have you been together? 1 year, 1 month, and 19 days.

Who said I love you first? Me, but it was pretty mutual. We both finally said it on the same night.

Do you live together? Negative. Waiting until my lease is up in March.

When’s the last time you saw your SO? Sunday afternoon.

When do you think you’ll be married? Yea, thats an up in the air question. Either October 2015 or October 2016.

How long do you see being with your SO? Let’s hope forever.

Would you stay with your SO if they wouldn’t marry you? I would. Marriage isn’t everything to me.

What’s your favorite memory of your SO? Definitely our first Valentines Day and our first weekend trip alone. Just us two, in a B&B room, watching Netflix while it snowed outside.

How long have you been ready for getting engaged? Unfortunately been there, done that πŸ™‚

What would drive you apart? Cheating or heavy drug use.

Your perfect wedding with your SO? Me personally, small small wedding, 50 people. Simple dinner after. He though, wants the big ordeal.

<div class=”text-holder”>

How did you meet your SO? In high school, his best friend lived next door to me and he lived a few blocks away (but we went to different schools). One day the two boys were having a not-so-subtle squirt gun fight in, essentially, our back yards. They were too cute to pass up so I invitied my best friend over. We all became fast friends and eventually the two best friends started dating and therefore we did too (ah, high school). We broke up after like 3 months and didn’t speak for about 8 years. After college, our paths would cross and one (slightly drunken) night, I got gutsy and sent him a Facebook message. After FB chatting for a little while I finally asked him to meet out one night and the rest is history!

How long have you been together? 2.5 years

Who said I love you first?  He did. We’d been dating about 6 months or so and we spent the most fun snowed-in day playing out in the snow, watching movies, etc. It was adorable and perfect. I knew it then too.

Do you live together? Yes, he actually moved into my apartment building with a roommate (2 doors down!) when we’d only been dating about 3 months. It made it fun in a weird Seinfeld/Friends/Everybody Love Raymond (my mom lives in a building about a block away) kind of way. I did tell him if we broke up I retained “ownership” of the building. Luckily for me, after a fabulous first vacation together nearly two years ago, he asked me to move in when his roommate moved out in September (2013). I agreed and it’s been a blast! (And moving down the hall with a shopping cart was by far my easiest move ever!)

When’s the last time you saw your SO? This morning when I was leaving for work and he was still in bed (he has the best work hours).

When do you think you’ll be married? Late 2015/early 2016

How long do you see being with your SO? I’m planning on forever.

Would you stay with your SO if they wouldn’t marry you? I don’t know. I thought so with a former boyfriend (most dysfunctional relationship EVER) but I realized that sacrificing my desires and wishes for someone else isn’t what makes a relationship work. Compromise is key. And I don’t know if I could compromise on this. But luckily, I don’t think I have to worry about that.

What’s your favorite memory of your SO? Our first night on our trip to Cape Cod this past summer. It was foggy and like a dream near the beach where we were staying. We were so happy, and excited, and connected, it hardly felt real. (Not to mention we had some of the best lobstah of our lives. So that helped.)

How long have you been ready for getting engaged? Probably since about 6 months after moving in together. He knew that we had to be headed in that direction if I were to move in (we discussed this before I agreed to do so). So, about 10 months, though definitely not “actively waiting” all that time.

What would drive you apart? Different (changing) ideas on wanting to have a family and how/where to do so, infidelity, and of course any emotional/physical abuse or untreated addiction.

Your perfect wedding with your SO? I’d love to elope or do something small and sweet in a place special to us (Cape Cod, Panama, etc. etc) but he has a very big, very Catholic family and he/they will want a big blow out so I guess I’ll be planning a big ‘ol party. I think I can get on board with that (though I swear I’m hiring a planner. Ain’t nobody got time for that!)

How did you meet your SO? It’s kind of funny because apparently we went to high school together, I had no idea who he was because he was in a lower grade than me. We ended up working at the same store a couple years after high school. I invited a bunch of co-workers out to a bar that is in the same complex, and only him and his friend showed up. We hit it off that night and the rest is history

How long have you been together? 2 years and 8 months on the 17th

Who said ‘I love you’ first? I did, I fell for this man fast. He took his time though, and  when he finally did it was so emotional

Do you live together? Yes we do! It was hard living together at first, and we fought about the stupidest things adjusting living together. But i’m glad we had those fights because we are so much stronger as  a couple now

When’s the last time you saw your SO? Right now

When do you think you’ll be married? We will probably get married in 2016, honestly depends on our finances. I am in school right now so money has been a little tight

How long do you see being with your SO? I give it another 90 years, that’s assuming I live till I am 115 (which is the plan)

Would you stay with your SO if they wouldn’t marry you? If he wouldn’t marry me, that would mean something is not right with our relationship. I am not going to pressure him to marry me in a time frame, I just want to make sure that marriage is in the plan and that we have the same ideas about how we want out life to be.

What’s your favorite memory of your SO? We were camping in the cascades, and were hanging out at a river near our campsite. We were just having so much fun with eachother, we jumped into the river even though it was September and the water was ice cold. We were acting like kids just throwing rocks trying to break them. This is one of my favorite memories because we have so much fun with eachother and like to go on adventures and do random stuff like see who can break a rock the smallest lol he also said something along the lines of ‘this is how I know we were meant to be together’ when we were walking back to the campsite.

How long have you been ready for getting engaged? I wouldn’t say I was ready to get engaged right this second, only because money is so low and I want to get a car and be a little more self sufficent before I plan my wedding, but I knew very early on that he was the man I wanted to marry… maybe 3 months in haha

What would drive you apart? not working together as a team, not being honest, cheating.

Your perfect wedding with your SO? I want to have an outside cerimony, maybe by the lake or something. with family and friends, I really don’t want people who we don’t even talk to on a regular basis at my wedding like super extended family.
