I tried.  I really did.  I lasted about 5 minutes.  These people can’t be for real!

I randomly stumbled across this show a few nights ago and am totally hooked. Darling Husband doesn’t understand why, but I just can’t look away…Can people really make a living off alligator wrangling?

OH man, I am so glad they put this show on Netflix – I am obsessed. It creeps me out that sometimes after they shoot it and pull it in the boat the arms are still moving.  I’ve held a baby aligator before and they are so scary looking – idk how they are so fearless!

Two of the girls in my office watch it – they think it’s hilarious.  In fact, they got excited yesterday because someone who came in here looked like one of the guys.

I have caught it a few times just flipping channels, but I don’t seek it out.

@PinkPandaBear: a lot of them work in oil too. While the season does pay nicely, I doubt it would be enough to live off of for a full year

Yeah, no. I can’t stand watching people butcher animals and laugh about it as entertainment.

@Mrs_Amanda:  Good to know. Sorry, I’m a clueless Yankee and really really don’t mean to  be offensive – is alligator meat popular in the South?

@ PinkPandaBear: it is and it isnt at the same time. I grew up in Louisiana and ate alligator meat often ( alligator on a stick is the shizzz at the fair!). Now I live in TN and people here do not eat it because it is not local. My family in particular eats more crawfish than gater, though. … they do use a lot of the gator for various things. The show kind of emphasizes that when they show the alligator farm and how that family does everything down to selling the teeth in the giftshop! My Fiance says watching that show taught him so much about me lol— not because I sound like them but because of what I like to eat/ mannerisms to an extent and what I call things ( like a ” camp”   being a place on the river or in the woods to chill for the weekend…you can see some in the show on the bayou..looksike houseboats)
