rararachael:  chose the dress 9 months before wedding. 6 months to come in, with time for alterations. I would definitely wait if you want to drop lbs!

Agreed with the PP. Dresses can take anywhere from 6 months or less depending on the designer. Anything after that would mean you are taking a risk. You still have to find the dress which can take a while than you wait for it to come in and after alterations. So I’d start shopping at about the year mark to look at your options to play it safe.

rararachael:  If this helps ANY at all. I had a 14 mo engagement and went from 220 to 160 before my wedding. I didn’t do low carb (I’d be cranky as heck!) or any other fad diet. I just ate clean and worked out 5 or 6 days a week.  So it IS possible =)  There were weeks where I lost motivation as well and just maintained (or gained a lb or 2….). You just have to believe you can do it and let EVERYONE close to you know that you have a goal & they need to support you. If they don’t, you won’t be seeing them as much.

I purchased my dress about 8 months out.  Depending on what designer you are looking at and where really depends on how long your dress may take to get in. Davids Bridal and Bridal Warehouse are pretty quick about it, but I know designers shops or smaller stores take a little longer. I’d give a minimum of 6 months and that’s pushing it in my opinon

I’m an odd ball so I wouldn’t pay too much attention to what I’m about to say.

I’m about 140 right now thanks to a year of emotional eating and gaining a ton of weight. I want to be back down to 115-120 by our either Feb or May 2016 wedding.

I actually bought my dress in April… yes, that is 2 years before my wedding, but I had a reason for doing this. I am buying a second dress and plan on getting it sometime this summer, because we might be moving across the country later this year and I want to have this out of the way before then.

Good luck!

I am currently 154 and 5″7. I definitely gained weight I shouldn’t have, after being super fit my whole teenage life (I am only 23, yikes).

I have started my diet plan and will start my workout routine next week (my Fiance is in wicked shape so he is my trainer haha). I am planning on losing AT LEAST 25lbs.

I bought my dress in a 10 (Kleinfeld told me this is a street size 6-8??) and I will definitely need alterations. I will probably lose 2 sizes, so I would rather buy a bigger dress than one I can’t fit into!! They told me to expect my first fitting around August, and i bought my dress this past October, so 10 months between purchase and first fitting, with my wedding being next October. Never had so much motivation before! haha

I’m really short and under 100 lbs, but weight is not my concern.  It’s tone!  My arms aren’t that well toned and I’m really hoping to carve out some muscles by my wedding this June.  Actually, most of my body really needs some more toning, but I’m wearing a strapless dress so most of the attention will be on my arms, traps, and back.

Does anyone else feel stressed out / overwhelmed by the sheer volume of workouts and specific exercises that are out there?  I feel overwhelmed, it’s like “Should I do abs and glutes today?  Arms?  Hamstrings or quads?! AHHH”

I’ve started my weightloss journey I am currently 129lbs and am hoping to drop down to 115lb. I ordered my dress at Kleinfeld in September and my dress will be in by July so a total of 10 months before the first fitting. I’m hoping to be close to my goal weight by July as long as by my final fitting I’m at my goal weight I will be happy.

I would not worry so much about looking at dresses soon after engagement but definitly begin your journey before purchasing because while it is ok to take in a dress it’s easier to just take it in up to 3 sizes rather than 5 or 6 sizes. You definitly have ample time to begin your journey and get closer to your goal weight and then order your dress and by the time it comes in if it’s still too big they can take it in from there 🙂 Good Luck!!

I’m 5’8″ and currently am 168lbs.  I bought a size 10 sample dress, and I have to lose 2″ off my butt and 1″ off my waist to have that area fit perfectly. My goal weight is I think approximately 150lbs? Maybe 145, it depends on what happens when I get there. My wedding is September 26, 2015. So before my fittings start I have approx 6 months to lose 15-20lbs.

cristinamarie92:  I love the 21 day fix workouts.  I warn you, the first one on the schedule (Total Body Cardio) KICKS YOUR BUTT! First time I ever did it, my butt was SO sore the next day.  Good sore, but still. Way more than I actually expected from a 30 minute workout.

What kind of Shakeology did you order?

prinprin:  I love Beachbody programs for that exact reason.  It tells you what to do on what days. I’m doing the Advanced HIIT progression program from Turbofire.

cristinamarie92:  Chocolate is my favorite, I actually love it mixed with 4-6oz of plain unsweetened almond milk and about 4-6oz water.  Simple but effective.  The almond milk makes it thicker and more milkshake-like without busting out the blender.

In my opinion the chocolate really doesn’t need anything to “improve” the flavour.  If you ever get the other flavours, they lend themselves best to blending with some frozen fruit, maybe some greens, and some water or non dairy milk. (I actually love using the Greenberry in green smoothies because it’s also green so it doesnt get weird coloured.)

If you’re down to break out the blender, I like to add 1 scoop chocolate shakeology, 2 cups of spinach, a banana, a little ice, and a cup of water (Or more water if you like a thinner shake).  The spinach makes it a gross colour but you can’t taste it at all, and it gives you a really filling breakfast for the fix that’s 1 green, 1 purple and 1 red. If you use 1 cup of water, it perfectly fills a Shakeology shaker cup. (Blend the spinach and water first to break up the spinach. Then add the shakeology and blend on the lowest setting to stir it in. If you mix it on a high setting the powder will fly up on the sides and won’t all mix. Once it’s mixed in, turn up the blender and add the ice and banana)

My second favorite flavour is the Strawberry, but I like to blend it with spinach, mango, the juice of 1 lemon, ice and water.
