A few months ago, someone starting a wedding invitation company posted something on Weddingbee. Her company name is Sweet Paper Studio. I love her work and have been in the talks of invitations with her – but up to two months ago, I haven’t heard anything. My co worker who was using her also, hasnt heard anything and their invites were due a month ago!
Anyone know anything about this?

I think that others have had issues with her returning calls and/or being late with their invitations. Do a search on here and I think it will pop up.

As KateMW mentioned, there was a post about Phyllis here: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/sweet-paper-studio
I’ve been working with Phyllis and she has been just wonderful, almost always responsive within a few days. However, she has been extremely busy this summer — designing AND assembling entire paper suites for brides by pulling all nighters, setting up her business, working with a ton of brides, getting engaged herself, and now she’s even moving homes. I’m sure she’s also going through the growing pains of starting her own business, learning about her limitations and the real time certain tasks take, etc. so I wouldn’t give up on her just yet.
Give her another email if you really want to work with her. She’s not a flake and her work has absolutely been the focal point to my design plan that I hoped it would be. She’s worth every penny!

I have to say, and this is just my opinion, but I would let her work out her growing pains before I used her. It seems like there are a lot of people looking for her and she seems to be making more brides nervous than not. I’m sure she is talented, but being able to balance both sides of a business is what makes somebody a professional and not just somebody with a hobby.

Just wanted to make one more quick point in Sweet Paper Studio’s defense, especially since I made the comment on growing pains:
I’ve had difficulty getting responses from ALL my vendors this summer (my wedding isn’t until October) since it is the high wedding season and the other brides getting married in these months are rightfully being prioritized over me (I know I would want that same treatment in October!). Besides this post, there has only been the one that seemed to be concerned about Phyllis. Otherwise, you’ll see a lot of readers also love Phyllis (like in the reader comments to this post: http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/05/05/vote-on-mintedcom/).
Hopefully I didn’t scare off any brides with my earlier response! This is definitely a full time job for Phyllis and she is both professional and fun to work with.

Thanks for the responses ladies. My wedding is not until early next year so I am in no frenzy at all but…. I referred my co worker to her, and their invites were due awhile ago now. They had to settle for a lot less than they ever envisioned because the bride was going frantic! I am just worried this will happen to me as well. I love her work – but I don’t want to be running frantic come closer to the wedding. She is not following the timeline she originally sent me….

I used Phyllis & Sweet Paper Studio to design the map for our guests see myMay 29th blog post on our wedding website: http://ed-debi.weddingannouncer.com (I designed all of our invitation suite myself and just needed help with getting the Map down pat) I have to say she was an ABSOLUTE JOY to work with and was VERY ATTENTIVE to my needs and I was pushing the envelope as far as getting invitations out because we weren’t sure if we were going to be married at all due to my accident. I read in the post link above she is working on someone else’s invitation suite, and when I think of all the re-do’s she had to do for us (at the last minute, the department of transportation decided to repave the road from our chapel to our reception and there was a 40 mile difference that needed to be re-mapped and ALL of our maps had to be re-done)
Phyllis did everything I asked and never once complained! My wedding was just 20 days ago and we didn’t send out invitations until 6 weeks before the wedding and PHYLLIS WAS EVERYTHING I COULD ASK FOR IN A VENDOR and never once did we communicate by phone. Everything was done over email and she was great.
I agree with someone else’s post that this is wedding season and the vendors are terribly busy. If your friend had to "settle" because she was going frantic, that was her choice. I’ve learned that a lot of brides go "frantic" and make more of a situation than there really is. (I can think of one particular poster that EVERYTHING is a crisis) Vendors know this and I’m sure they adjust their schedules to make sure everyone gets what they need when they need it.
I had to make sure I posted in defense of Phyllis and Sweet Paper Studio because she truly CARES for her clients. As one poster said above something like: "I would let her work out her growing pains before I used her" Great for everyone else. One less client to take up the precious time she works for the rest of us who truly know what a GEM she is to work with.
Be Patient. 🙂 Happy Wedding!

Sweet Paper Studio came through with everything for me for our July wedding. She completed ALL paper items that were requested: invitations, signs, table cards, programs, you name it, she did it! And she did them all beautifully. The studio is a growing business, but I have no reservations recommending her to families and friends! Hopefully, she will send you all one mass e-mail update to calm your worries. I’m sure she’ll pull through!
