I am only 11 weeks pregnant but after a week of feeling bloated and my jeans feeling uncomfortable…I decided to go to Ross and I picked up a pair of maternity jeans. The kind that are stretchy and have an elastic band around the waist.
Ahhhhhhhh…Sweet Relief!!
I know it’s a little early to “need” maternity pants but I don’t care. haha!
It feels so nice to not have a waist band digging into my belly. I laughed with my husband that I feel like I am wearing those silly “pajama jeans”. The are stretchy, as comfy as my sweat pants, and have a fake fly! haha!
Welcome to the world of maternity pants. So glad I took the leap. My belly is thanking me!

I didn’t know Ross carried maternity, that’s exciting!
I waited util my 12 weeks to buy maternity, even though I needed them before. I just wore dresses instead.

@spraguebride: Just so you know, the pants with elastic around the waist is good for a few months, but not the whole pregnancy. I didn’t know this and bought several pants I can’t wear after month 5 with my first pregnancy. Try to find the pants where the stretchiness goes over the belly with no elastic which you can wear the whole pregnancy. It just saves some money and comfort in the long run.

SpragueBride and Octobermom this is totally NOT fair. We are all due within three days of one another and I’m still going DOWN on jean size. I want to have to wear maternity pants! ๐

@firsttimemom: you’re losing weight?!! No Fair!!!! I am not jelous that you had morning sickness….but I wouldn’t have minded the weight-loss aspect ๐
@TheFutureMcBride: Thanks for the tip. I knew these would just be for a few months….but I thought that the “full pannel” would totally not fit now. I hear people saying that early on they were still too small for maternity pants. Are you talking about a different type or are you saying that I should try the full pannel kind?
Thankfully I only bought one pair at 13.99 so I’m ok if they only last 2 months. Supposedly they are low-rise and will fit bellow my bigger belly but I am not counting on it ๐

@spraguebride: I have one pair of full-panel They’re good for support but I don’t really love them as they’re difficult to pull up (because there’s no waist-band – so they’re like pantyhose – I feel like they’re always lower than they should be) and the panel sometimes shows thru thinner shirts.
I love mine that look like regular jeans in the front with the stretchy back – they sit below my bump so I don’t really see a point where I wouldn’t be able to wear them but it could be that the baby is higher (I’m 29 weeks).

@spraguebride: I was saying try the full panel kind because they last the whoel pregnancy. They are annoying because they do slide down, but I’d rather spend money on comfy pants which kind of annoy me than have ones that dig into my belly. All the other pregnancy pants I’ve tried dig into my belly, so I recommend the full panel to all pregnant women. Just don’t get anything with elastic at the top as it’ll dig in throughout the day.
@camrie: Yeah, maybe Wombat and Moose have been lower babies because the ones you’re talking about hurt me.

@TheFutureMcBride: I completely agree with you about the full panel jeans. I’ve been recommending them to my friends who have gotten pregnant recently. Like you I found that the shorter panel jeans dug into my belly around 20 weeks and I can’t stand them now! I’m hoping the ones I bought will work in that inbetween postpartum stage before my real jeans fit again.

omg im right with you! such relief! i didn’t get any maternity pants until 14 weeks, but that was for like 2 weeks, and the whole bella band thing never worked well for me. i just wore dresses and leggings (my job is pretty casual) most days of the week. the first day i wore some full panel maternity pants to work i was in heaven! i haven’t had the problem of them rolling down yet, but for now they are awesome.

Thanks for the input on the full-pannel pants. I kinda thought those were for only when you have a big belly and were very pregnant. Didn’t realize they could work so early. In a few weeks when I need to get some more pants….I will have to try on those full-pannel pants ๐

I’m 13 weeks + 1 day, and I’ve bought three pairs of maternity pants but haven’t worn them yet. Last year I lost a lot of weight and thankfully I didn’t donate my fat pants, so while my normal pants no longer fit, I’m comfortably wearing most of my fat pants.
Except for the ones I wore today. I’m sitting at my desk with my pants completely undone. Not cool. What’s even less cool is that when I stand up, they don’t fall down.

Good for you. I have so many friends that would squeeze into jeans as long as possible and be uncomfortable just so they could say they didn’t need maternity pants until x weeks. I don’t get it… the longer you wear them, the more you got your money’s worth out of them anyway. I like the full panel too. You can easily fold the panel down earlier in pregnancy to make them stay up better and they last the whole pregnancy. The ones with the inch of elastic around the top got too tight to be comfortable by the 3rd trimester and were pretty much a wasteful purchase. Outgrowing maternity clothes can be tough on the ego too ๐
