@j_jaye:  Agreed. But some people never know how they will react when face to face with someone who caused so much pain. We can just agree to disagree 🙂

I kind of think that people in this thread need to get over themselves. Period.

First of all, bullying is horrific. I think most people have been made fun of at one time or another.

Second, I do agree that the biggest impact would be made if you responded “um, you were a total bitch to me in high school” as per @mandypop’s experience. I bet most people would truly be apologetic as they’ve matured, lord knows I have (I was never a bully, but I’ve come a long way in 12 years emotionally…)

However, give the girl a break. I went to high school with a girl who was a total brat…now in our late 20’s she’s gained quite a bit of weight. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t somewhat satisfying to see that since she was such a bitch, but it was a passing thought in my brain that made me smile and think about karma for all of five seconds.

I don’t take joy in other people’s pain or misfortune, and lord knows I’ve thought that maybe she gained weight because she had a thyroid condition or was on steroids for an illness, etc. However, sometimes it’s nice to see someone who made your life hell, who you always felt inferior to years later and realize how far you’ve come…and how high your confidence is well…and sometimes, it gives you just a smidge of satisfaction that you feel happy about where you are in life versus this person who was so cruel. That doesn’t make you snarky, snotty, bratty, nasty or anything else. That makes you a person.
