I would classify my own boobs as medium small. But I think my dress would look nice with a modified sweetheart. Would that work? Or do you need to be ample to pull it off?

I’m wearing a sweetheart neckline and I’m a 36C if that helps…
Are they designed to look better on a particular type? I always thought they were designed for larger chests to show off cleavage…
I think they’re good for anyone who wants combat the “uniboob” effect that a lot of dresses have 😉
Sweetheart necklines are a good choice for 99% of brides. They provide a softer more defined look. Try on a shirt or hold up a towel and push down the middle where the dip would be. It won’t be perfect, but it will give you an idea of the look.
I’m actually using mine to kind of hide my cleavage. I’m a 42 DD and hoping (even if I have to modify it) to cover most of my breasts. All of the sweethearts I tried on completely covered my breasts, which is what I want. I think as long as it’s modified correctly, it can accentuate any body in the way that you want.
When I had gone to look for my wedding dress, I had expressed concern about my (barely there) boobies and to see if there was any way to make them a bit more… fuller? The consultant pulled out about 6 dresses, all with sweetheart necklines. So I assume the sweetheart neckline helps to enhance the boob area.. =P
I am a small 34b, and I have a sweetheart neckline for my wedding dress. I think it helps balance my broad shoulders. I think the sweetheart is universally flattering.
I think sweetheart necklines are more flattering on every size than straight across necklines, for what it’s worth. So my answer is: good for both [kinds of] boobs!
I am a 34A and I am having a dress design change to a modified sweetheart. I think it helps with my med/small ‘girls!’
Here is the original neckline…and then the modified neckline…the pinching of the fabric won’t look like that…thats where they pinned it to show me the modified sweetheart neckline…
EDIT – – IMO sweetheart necklines are complimenting regardless of chest size
I agree, sweetheart necklines look good on pretty much everyone. I love the look of mine and I have a big chest, we’re talking 36F big. But my bridesmaid dresses look nice on them with the sweetheart neckline too and they all have average size smaller chests. I say go for it!
I’m a 32A and I loved my sweetheart neckline.
@ Jackie- O. Wow, I really like what the sweetheart neckline does to your dress! From what I can see, I like the dress before and after.
I agree that sweetheart neckline are almost universally flattering. The dip adds the look of cleavage to a smaller chest and wrangles in and accentuates the femininity of a larger chest!
I really like the modifications to your dress, Jackie-O! It was pretty before but it looks especially flattering now!
Two major dresses I can think of that I wore a sweetheart neckline with were my prom dress and my wedding dress. I was a small 34A and size 2/4 at prom and I thought it looked great then, and now I’m a full 34B and size 4/6 and my wedding dress reeaaaally emphasizes my new, curvier bust. So there are at least two sizes it works on for sure!
I think it also depends on what type of sweet heart you are talking about.
Some “sweetheart” necklines are more like V necks:
versus just a small dip sweetheart
