Hi there.  I’ve been to Secrets Maroma and I would recommend the ocea view rooms over the swin out.  The thing with the swim out is it’s not a private pool. You share it with all the other swim out rooms in that building.  So potentially you have people swimming around in front of your window at any time of day or night which limits privacy in your room.  Also the swim out pools are not heated.

We booked the swim out room.  Hopefully it’s great!  I do know some buildings get more sunlight, therefore should be warmer.

I have never been a fan of swim out rooms.  In most places, you can’t lock the patio door from the outside so to me this is a huge security issue.  I also don’t like the idea of people being able to hang out that close to my window/door.

@Meowkers:  That’s great information I would never have thought about the people swimming in front of your room day/night.

I prefer being on a higher floor, so I’d take ocean view.

I would go with the ocean view. To me the swim out is over-rated! I like to bring my things with me to the pool – if you swim out you can’t bring anything and I doubt you are going to stay in the water the WHOLE time!

Likely, you will be spending minimal time in your room and when you do you want it to be romantic and private. Having people swim outside your room is not very private or romantic, an ocean view is always romantic!

@mgo9713:  I agree with everyone.. in theory it sounds cool to just “swim out” of your room.. but everyone made good points about why it may not be so great. Personally I’d rather have a balcony with a private jacuzzi — and as far as your other question, I’m hoping just mentioning we’re on our honeymoon when we check in will get us bumped up to a nicer room.

The swim-out pool used to be a fantasy of mine. But now you guys have me SO worried about safety/voyeurs! Uck! I would go with the jacuzzi…

I can’t speak from experience but I think my personal preference would be for a private balcony and Jacuzzi.

Wow great tips everyone! Never would have considered the downsides of a swim out room but I definitely am now.

I would go for the private jacuzzi, same reason that PP’s mentioned… I like my privacy!
