Goodness I wish my Darling Husband would have been sweet like that, I tried on numerous occasions to show him the type of rings I liked and he wasn’t interested.

I guess he just assumed he would have gotten it wrong as i am so picky, He proposed with a silver with zirconia ring and then we had the real one made after,

Went ring shopping July 2010 and again September 2010 and still no proposal for me. We found the most reasonably priced ring that I liked and could live with (I’m very picky) the second shopping trip. Yet a few months later he was laid off and that’s why we aren’t still engaged. I hope we will be by this summer since he just started back working this month.

We started looking about a year before he proposed.. he told me it would happen by a certain time, but it was earlier than expected! Originally we went looking just for fun; we weren`t seriously looking at anything.

I’m glad it went better this time! Do you have some styles in mind that you really like?

I can’t wait to see what he chooses! You have such a great attitude about waiting.

ooo A step closer! Congrats!

My Fiance waited a week after he bought the ring. He said that it was burning a hole in his pocket and he couldn’t wait any longer.

We first went to look at rings in May of last year… but it was just to browse.  I knew he wasn’t going to buy one anytime soon.  We’d only been dating for about 4-5 months at that point.  We went to look again at the end of November.  He proposed in February… so that’s what?  About 9 months after the first jewelry store visit.

Good luck!  Hope it happens soon!!

I’d love to be able to go into a jewelry store, and have him ask me what I like… then again, I suck at telling anyone what I like because I feel guilty.  Each holiday that’s passed I’ve been asked and haven’t had the gumption to say what I want – him on one knee.

I look online a lot, and ahve foun plenty within a price range I find practical – if we can spend 800.00 on a couch and another 800.00 a year later on a computer, surely a 300.00-600.00 ring/bridal set shouldn’t be TOO much to want?  It just makes me feel greedy, but I’d really like to show him some ideas.

How long has the PP’s SO been receptive to looking at rings, even if buying is still a complete surprise?  Was there any kind of “milestone” or “Now I get it” conversation that helped move things along?  Did he finally get that super job?  House?  Debt paid off/down?  Hit a red-letter year (30-ish)?
