It’s so challenging to find something that really suits you in the seas of stationary options out there. I figured that our Save-The-Date Cards would be a good way to test the DIY waters. I was inspired by – our shared love of science (total nerds) & our first dance (swing lessons finally pay off!)
What I could find was…something that appealed to my nerdiness: http://cheerupcherup.com/ — Venn Diagram Collection
What I couldn’t find was…$200+ for Save-The-Date Cards
What I could find was…the nerve to steal someone elses idea and use it
What I couldn’t find was…any STD/Invite/Stationary that had anything to do with swing dancing at all!
What I could find was…a photo of a couple swing dancing that I dig. Edited that to make a little logo to incorporate in the STD and in future stationary/decor endevors.
What I ended up with was…
So, I ordered it as a postcard from vistaprint. It’ll be here any day now and then I’ll know for sure if my ideas translate into reality well or not. I ordered some adhesive magnetic strips to put on the back. This way we can cover up the website advertising on the back while also turning our postcard into a magnet. I also ordered envelopes because I can’t decide if I want to put them in envelopes or not. Then after all that, I started wondering if it was weird that there is no mention of a wedding on these cards?? Overall cost = $50 – before postage.

I <3 science (work as a lab tech) and dancing (ballroom, but still). and that is an awesome design!!
It is a little strange that there’s no mention of a wedding, but its already done, so go with it! If people don’t know what it’s for they can ask 🙂
Way to go!

I think it’s great! I also think most people know what a save the date is- so, no worries.

How much do I love that only on WB does the phrase “Swing STDs” not warrant a trip to your gynecologist.
That being said they are really cute and I love all the color and personality behind it. They will turn out great I’m sure.

@Treejewel19: HAHA truth. IRL if I had a “swing” anything, I’d be in the doctor’s waiting room.
I love them! They are really great. So fun! Maybe I’ll play around with this Vistaprint people seem to love so much…

I love them (vistaprint) and highly recommend it…Just look around for the coupons first (like sign up for their emails)! I could have saved so much money on my first order with them. I felt silly when I realized. Lesson learned!

I like the graphic you found/created! I hated dealing with that for the t-shirt design when I was on the officer corp of the campus swing society (the very best I found was one based off Dean & Jewel in Buck Private but it didn’t translate well for t-shirts so we went with a very generic swing out outline that I still don’t like)
