I haven’t tried or heard of lo loestrin, but I did try Nexplanon because a friend recommend it. About 3 months in I was constantly spotting for months. I developed an iron deficiency and eventually had it removed it was so awful. My best friend at the time tried it as well, and experienced the exact same thing. I recommend against it every time I can.

I switched to Mirena after that, and after about 6 months I completely stopped getting a period. Every couple of months I’ll spot for a few days, and the insertion was very painful, but for 5 years of no period? Helllll yes

Definitely listen to your gynecologist over me! But I’ve experienced completely different side effects from the two. I’ve also had hormonal migraines in the past and I rarely have trouble with them anymore… Everyone’s different, and there’s so many different options, I really hope you find something that works for you! Hang in there!

I was on nexplanon for almost 6 years. I had it in for 3 years with no issues then had it replaced two and a half years ago I regretted it about 3 months about in. I JUST got it removed in Sept. And started taking Aubra,  another low hormone birth control pill. I freaking love it! my periods are so much lighter than when I was on the nexplanon and constantly bleeding/cramping/ feeling sick. I hate having to take a pill again but it was the best option for me 🙂

I was on Lo Loestrin FE (I literally put in my first Nuvaring and switched off of it yesterday) and had some trouble with it – but my sister used it for years and loved it! I did have weird spotting but never enough to cause trouble. I have heard it takes a while to get over the spotting part in Lo Loestrin?? My breast size increased a lot and I did carry a tiny bit more weight (2 lb maybe??) in my butt and hips while on it (though I think that might be related to the fact that I was tired and therefore not exercising as much as normal) I felt like I was going to vomit for the first month but it settled down and just left me with a couple random food aversions (cascara and peanut butter for some inexplicable reason) I did have a lot of issues with depression while on the Lo Lo (no history of it AT ALL so I was stunned) so that’s my one word of advice!
