I’m 21 weeks and last night looked down at my feet and realized that I was cankle-elephant-footgirl. I feel your pain.

I have no medical degree, so I can’t diagnose preclampsia or anything, but basically from what I’ve read, edema is one of those things that *might* be a symptom of preeclampsia, but is also quite common in healthy pregnancies as well. The rates of preeclampsia worldwide are less than 10%, so it’s statistically unlikely that that’s you, but there’s no way for you to know until your doctor tests your blood–which I’m assuming s/he will do at some point anyway. But I wouldn’t preemptively deicde it’s that condition because that’s just premature freaking out.

Try elevating your legs for a bit, doing some exercise, drinking water, and curtailing the salt–that should help mitigate the effects.

Mine started about then. If you’re worried, there is no harm in getting checked out. Mine turned out to be nothing.
