When you order a dress, they will measure you and compare you to the size chart or go off the sample you tried on, and make sure on there order sheet all the information is correct!! You’ll have to sign the form to confirm. So to be honest…if you gain weight then its your fault. Its harsh I know, but if the dress you get in is WAY off the initial measurements, then yes it would be the stores fault. But every person I’ve talked to has told me the same thing, when you order, its your job to confirm that the information is correct. Im sure that woman did not want to admit she gained weight, but its possible 🙁

When I ordered my dress they took  my measurements and wrote them down on my order form and then picked the size that best matched my measurements.  I was given a copy of that form, so if for some reason they got it wrong we had proof of what my measurements were at thet ime of the order. one of the ladies was trying to order a size 6 for me based on my bust size but i insisted on a size 8 because the size 6 was going to be way too tight on my hips. I was happy with the size 8 even though the bust was a little big, they were able to fix it for me.

I saw that episode as well, and the thing is that whatever her measurements were they would have told her what size they were ordering, and if it was smaller than what she normally wore she should have spoken up and asked them to re-measure!  I realize that wedding dress sizes don’t always correlate exactly to normal sizes, and usually are up one size.  So I would suggest that you expect that they order your dress one size over your normal size, and if its something different ask yourself if that makes sense based on the size of the sample and how it fit you.  The dress in the show wasn’t even close, it had to be many sizes too small, so I do kind of believe that if they had made a mistake in measuring she should have noticed that the size they were ordering was smaller than expected, but who knows!

One thing I noticed on the show, its that they said the dresses can take 8 to 10 months to come in. And if she was iffy going in, then she probley did gain weight. But who knows!
