I enjoy watching the consultants from Kleinfelds but I LOVE the salon that Lori created in Atlanta. I especially love that each room features dresses from ONE specific designer.

i know Kleinfelds is the leading preference, but I’ve read a lot of negative things about Bridals by Lori that just isn’t true. And you have to remember, TLC edits the shit out of these shows just to garner a little drama and more interest. I’m worried to death they’re going to make an issue out of me saying that I felt my mom could be a little more supportive. It was a minor part of our conversation, but you know how editing goes.

Anyway, I filmed an episode of SYTTDA on 2/28 this year. I can’t go into enough detail about how great my entire experience was. The friendly comraderie you see between the consultants and bridal parties is real. Seriously, everyone had a great time. Not one person was snobby and my family is by no means rich or even that well off. The behind the scenes staff was just as awesome.

Flo and Lori allowed everyone in my group to help select dresses, though I only tried on 4 before I found THE ONE. I went in with a budget of $1500-2000. There were a lot of dresses within that price range. I ended up choosing one that cost $2100(Lori later informed Flo that it had been mispriced and was really $2400, but they still honored the ticket price). And I received a discount too.

When you apply to the show, it’s a very quick process from beginning to filming and you are told there are no discounts. However, I really did get one. As I said, the dress was $2100, but after the discount and with tax, it ended up being between $1800-$1900.

Overall, if I had it to do over again, I’d still go to Lori’s whether I got to be on the show or not.

I used to love watching both SYTTD shows but now I just find them insanely boring. Maybe it’s because I am more focused on other aspects of my wedding and “over” the whole picking of the dress part? Who knows.

I’m torn. I like the dresses in Atlanta, and the actual show/drama/employees at Kleinfeld’s. Lol.

I recently went to Kleinfelds to try on dresses and it was def worth the experience! I had Diane and LOVED her! I met Randy and he was so sweet. Once I told them I liked Pnina type ballgowns I felt they pushed her dresses on me but they sure know how to make you feel like royalty. Once you stand on the pedestal, all the staff comes over making you feel like a princess and you are their only client for the day. I was hoping to find my dress there but they did not carry my favorite designer. Love the staff and dresses though and enjoy watching!

I really wanted to like the Atlanta version, since I’m from the metro Atlanta area. But everyone on the show just seems like a caricature of the “southern person” stereotype, and there are way too many instances of general catty behavior for my liking. Whether that’s how people actually act or just the way they’re edited to look doesn’t matter; I just don’t like seeing that in a show.

Also, when I was looking for boutiques a few months ago, the “Bridals by Lori” google places page showed up and had some downright terrible reviews. I’d probably take the anonymous internet reviews with a grain of salt, but I thought it was interesting. I’d link to it but I can’t find it again.

@victorian-lilac:  oh, check out the Yelp reviews on Kleinfeld’s 🙂 Not everyone leaves there a happy camper either.

@kimm99:  Haha, that’s funny! I don’t know why I think it’s so entertaining to read bad reviews! Undecided I think the funny thing about the bad reviews for Bridals by Lori was that they were less “legitimate complaint about the service” and more “personal vendetta against the owner” — a number of them actually went so far as to accuse Lori’s PR department of planting good reviews! What??? Is that even a thing that people do? That’s why I said that I probably wouldn’t take them too seriously.

I’m from Atlanta but I also think Kleinfelds episodes are so much better. I think part of the reason is because I watched them first so they kind of set the tone of the show for me. Atlanta has a completely different feel. I like Lori – she reminds me of a lot of women that I grew up around, but I love LOVE the consultants at Kleinfelds.

And yeah, Monty – so annoying. Randy kind of annoys me too, but the “jack her up” thing is ridiculous. I think I mainly just hate the way gay men are portrayed on tv. They aren’t all sassy, over the top drama queens who are good at fashion. Come on, America….go easy on the stereotypes.

I like the staff of Kleinfeld’s better, but it irritates me that the Kleinfeld’s version has started only showing certain designers (Pnina, Henry Roth, Alita Graham, etc) and higher price points, so I actually like that you see a wider range of dresses with regards to designers/prices on the Atlanta show.

I like watching both just to see all the dresses but I think Kleinfeld’s is sooo much better.
