I have seen pictures of decor for royal tables and they’re usually low or two tall (one at each end) and then low ones throughout the center of the table. However, I want to keep the cost down and plan to do one tall arrangement in the middle per table and then put lots of different types of candles throughout. I found these really pretty lanterns at a decent cost that I woul love to use, but they are 12.5 inches tall. I was wondering if that is too tall. I don’t want people to be blocked and not be able to see each other and have a conversation across the table. If so, what would be an appropriate height for the lanterns as well as candle holders?

I think that is a good height, my centerpiece bottles were 7inches tall and then had another 6 inches of gerber daisy sticking out of the top and it was still a pretty low centerpiece, everyone was able to easily see over them. I think your idea is lovely and your lanterns will be a beautiful centerpiece, dont forget to post photos of them after the wedding, I would love to see how they turn out!

There are many opinions published but the ones that I have seen say that any centerpiece should be less than 14″ unless it is very narrow like a trumpet or eiffel vase.
You could test it yourself at home by finding something the same height as your lanterns, place it on your dining table, and see if it interferes with your view or conversation across the table.
