I don’t think the 2 have to go together…but  what are you going for centerpieces?  I’m using mason jars and I bought stick on “chalkboards” to put on them.  I’ll number the tables that way.  I don’t know, I guess its hard to imagine not knowing what you’re doing for the centerpieces.  Tell me and I’ll try to think-a-somethin’.

if the escort cards are apples you could make a little tree out of cardstock and hang a leaf with the table number on it.  we’re also october and i’m making lanterns out of cardstock and vellum in the style of an etsy seller that was featured on a different post (i can’t find her now but it was something with the initial J in it).  you could also do pots of honey table numbers (apples and honey say fall to me).  or type in table numbers into google images…i did that and got a ton of inspiration.

You can buy battery operated lanterns (about 8″) at the Dollar Store for $1. You could then paint the table number on the lantern! I think that would look really cute!

here is a pic of the mock up that i did (as per family feedback, i’m going to make the first number the higher number in the final versions).  you also have to imagine it lit up.  i picked this pattern because it’s a riff off of a celebratory pattern that frank lloyd wright designed for the playroom of the avery coonley playhouse and Fiance and i have a personal connection to FLW.  you could do almost any pattern.

Here’s the etsy listing I bought my chalk boards from

http://www.etsy.com/listing/48879025/set-of-5-chalkboard-labels-4-in-x-275-in

I’m putting flowers in the mason jars.  Different shades of oranges, yellowish gold, deep burgundy.  They will sit on a slab of wood that I’ll cover with moss and some rocks and fake leaves.  I want candles…I want them a lot.  I just haven’t figured out a good way to use them, or I should say where!  I may do mini lanterns.

here are some cute tags, maybe you would wrap jute, burlap or rafia around the top of the mason jars and hang a little tag with the table number

I love aliceinweddingland lantern idea too!

i also have much love for chalkboards incorporated into wedding decor.  plus, you can mix up your own chalkboard paint (or buy it) and put it onto almost anything if you don’t want to purchase awesome adorable ones like leahb98’s pic above.
