After a fabulous venue visit yesterday, we’re both in love with the idea of a simple, laid-back decor style. The space is very rustic with great wood floors and eclectic mismatched tables and chairs, so we’re going for less of a matchy-matchy look and more simple and pretty.
We do need to have table runners, though, to put the water pitchers, centerpieces, etc on. Anyone have inspiration ideas for this type of set up? My two favorites thus far – although I’d have no idea where to get them:

You could make your own from burlap- check at local fabric stores or online. efavormart.com has cheap satin, taffeta, polyester, and sheer runners.

Like rabbit said, making your own from burlap is very easy. This is what we did. Here’s a link to my tutorial and a pic. I also made some in a different fabric, just for a bit of variety. you could even buy vintage-y tablecloths from a thrift store and sew them into your own table runners. Good luck!

@VagabondGurl – thanks, that’s a huge help! Those look great.
I’ll be looking around at different fabrics, too, so if anyone has great fabric sources, let me know.

If you’re going to use burlap, I found the best deal through an upholstery company online. Northwest Upholstery. I paid $1.20/yd for 30 yds. The more yardage you buy, the cheaper. I really only needed 20 yds, but the price difference made sense for me to get the 30 at less – as it was little more than the 20 would have been. I’ve also been making “bird’s nests” from the burlap for candy dishes on the tables, I will be using it for a photobooth backdrop (a la the photo inspiration below), and pillow covers for pillows that will be added to our lawn seating of quilts and blankets at our ceremony. I’m certain in the next couple months I’ll come up with something else useful for it too! (Not to self promote, but we’re having a rustic wedding and you might find other inspiration on our wedding planning blog, rustic-country-folksy.blogspot.com)
