Hi Bees – I’m new here but have been lurking for a while! Can you give me your opinions on tablecloths for our venue? White or coloured tablecloths?
We’ll be having lilac & white double chair drapes and we’re trying to decide whether to have lilac tablecloths (basically the same as the pink picture below, but change the pink to lilac – and the seat pads will be just normal beige) I’ve uploaded 2 pictures of the tablecloths we’re thinking of having (I’m not sure if they are the same colour and the lighting is just making one look darker?)

I’m personally a fan of the white – I like the crisp, clean look of it. (But if you don’t like the contrast between the lilac drapes and white tablecloths, I would say go with the lilac tablecloths for a more monochromatic look.)

I’m with catspajamas_beesknees :
white is always looks fresh and clean, so I tend to prefer it.

Which is cheaper – go for that option. Once the meal has started they will just become covered in wine or food…

You can’t go wrong with white. And it will set off whatever you are putting on your tables nicely

Our colors were grey and blue. We used white tablecloths, with navy napkins, and then our coordinator put grey napkins in the middle of the table under the centerpieces (white hydrangeas) to help set off the white on white. That may be an option for you.

I’m Team White (or Off-White) Linens. To me, colored tablecloths always feel very high school prom/early 00s and cheesy. White (family) linens are classic. Personally, I’d go with Ivory linens over pure white. They’ll look white once on the tables, but will be alrighty warmer versus pure white which is colder.

I voted lilac…I work in insurance, and white tablecloths always scream “insurance convention” to me…plus the lilac softens the overall look of the room!

Thanks everyone. I’m thinking coloured napkins could be a nice alternative to the lilac tablecloths. Maybe with charger plates?
