wildflower3 :  This thread is 7 years old and before the other day the last post was 4 years ago. I am not sure how up to date the prices are. I would check out some newer threads.

My diamond was an heirloom so we only had to pay for the setting, which was $1k custom made.

calliekalico2 :  the bee can be really helpful in figuring out a budget for your ring. Price Scope also has some good info. Hope you’re able to find something that you love!

The ring he proposed with was under $100. I love it and wear it on my right hand. He then gave me a credit card. He told me the minimum he wanted me to spend and the maximum I could spend. I came in at the middle with the ring I fell in love with instantly (with an upgrade of two wedding bands). We never discussed 3 month salary thing or whatever it is right now. I don’t want to wear something on my finger that cost more than my car did new.

Some may be like “he gave you a credit card and sent you on your way? Not very romantic”. Actually he put so much thought into my “placeholder” ring that I was not bothered by that at all. Besides it was easier to browse without him hanging around bored. He is not a good shopper companion and won’t hold a purse…..so it was better if I did it on my own. He also said he didn’t want to influence me in anyway because I was the one who had to wear it forever.

Engagement Ring was just under $3600. More expensive than what I had wanted, but it iis a truly beautiful ring and I am comfortable with the amount he spent knowing that he loves this ring and wanted to buy it for me. I love it too. I’d have been happy with a $200 Etsy ring tbh, but now that I have this beauty I can honestly say I’m glad he chose it.

We haven’t looked at wedding bands yet, but I would like something small and simple since the e-ring is fancy enoiand I don’t like showy jewelry.

My first e-ring was a lovely trilogy ring that cost $3600 in 1994, which I wore with gold stacker bands. Then we upgraded twenty years later with a antique cushion cut diamond set in platinum  from an ebay pawn shop in NY, paid about $1200 (1.2 carat diamond, E colour VSI from memory) and it was valued at $10k by a reputable jeweller here when I recieved it. He said “I can’t compete with internet bargains”! I got double diamond bands from Israli Diamonds online to wear on either side of it, gosh it was pretty!

Then I found moissanite and bought a lovely three stone ring with eternity from MoCo in 2013, which I swapped out with my real set for some fun. Absolutley fell in love with moissanite, the colours and how clean they are ethically.

When my marriage ended, I sold all my diamond jewellery on ebay (play that one forward) and now I’m happily partnered and have a moissanite 1.5 ct OEC Tiffany replica being made by LusterGems on ebay.

My husband bought a bridal set (engagement ring + wedding band). It cost him around $ 1,500.00. I thought it was too much to spend on my rings but he felt bad he could not get something even more expensive.
