I’m in the process of picking out my wedding invitations and figuring out how I want to word them. I’m having difficulty on addressing the parking issue. My venue does not allow parking but will provide transportation from a location (where everyone can park) I choose, to the venue. It seems like a lot to explain in an invitation.. my question is can I just include an extra card or slip of paper explaining the parking situation or would that be too tacky? Thanks!

Yes, parking would be best addressed on a seperate insert card.

On an information card say:
Please park at X location and shuttle service will take you to the ceremony/reception.
I don’t think you need to explain in detail, simply stated is best.

Definitely include a separate card with parking/transportation info. I went to a wedding with a parking shuttle and they did the exact same thing.

Yes I’d have it on a separate printed card or slip of paper.

Thanks guys! Should I mention if there is a charge to park? I’ll be getting married in st augustine florida and the only place to insure everyone gets a parking spot is in the parking garage..

@Quicksand: I think it would be fine.
Do you have a wedding website? You could use that forum instead of an extra insert in your invitations but I really don’t see the extra instructions as tacky.

if you can afford it, can you cover the parking charge or work out a deal with the garage for a flat fee for you to pay for your guests.
honestly, i think it is tacky to go to a wedding have to pay for parking.
one of the last weddings i went to was in DC and we had no choice to valet, the regular valet price was $25 but we were only charged $12 or something like that.
other than that, it has always been taken care of by the hosts.

Add a small insert card with wording close to this:
Please arrive at Big Parking Garage by X o’clock for a complimentary shuttle ride to the ceremony.
Garage fee $X. No onsite parking available at Wedding Venue.

@ajillity81: Yeah, I would prefer not to ask my guests to pay to park, but there’s no other place.. I mean they’ll be able to park elsewhere for free if they choose (with no shuttle) they’ll just have to walk 2 to 3 blocks if they do.. :-/

Not tacky at all.
Where I live, practically ALL wedding invitations have a little extra card or slip of paper with directions/parking instructions/road construction/detour warnings.
