You should go for it! As long as it is arranged well then it will be super fun. Also, check that forum the other bee posted. Nobody said it’s tacky there.

junebabyy :  My cousin considered doing this. She just contacted them and asked what they would charge to cater a wedding. (they don’t normally do catering) From what I remember, she said it was going to be super cheap. Like $10pp for steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas, and that was going to include some sort of vegan option (she’s vegan). It was also going to include cheese dip, salsa and quacamole, rice and beans and fried ice cream. I thought it was an awesome idea, but she ultimately decided on something else because she was worried something would go wrong since they had never catered before.

This sounds like it could be a BLAST.

But then I’m also from Texas and tacos are appropriate for anything and everything.  Especially if you have several stations and traditional favorites (barbacoa, chicken fajita, even chicherones) with plenty of grilled veggies like peppers and onions and sliced portabellos for the vegatarians with the toppings.  This also works for people who have dietary issues in that they can pick and choose what they eat.

I would be wary because:

– I love tacos but know a few people personally that would hate this…I guess you have to know your audience. Just make sure you have enough food for everyone to have multiple tacos, perhaps chips and salsa also, and a bunch of add ons (then people could do nachos, tacos, just a bowl, etc)

– It would be messy (I feel like the buffet would be and also it could be messy for the guests

– It will take forever to get 130 people through a line with that many options…I feel like it would be overwhelming as a buffet for 130.

Innerdonught :  cool   Ironically the ones labelled ‘angry Bees’ tend to be the nicest, most open-minded and compassionate of Bees (lol and sometimes sarcastic and tough-love but that’s just more reason to love) while those who consider themselves to be nicer simply because they veil their passive aggressiveness and closed mindedness behind pseudo-manners are actually the truly angry ones.

Getting back to the thread:

There are lots of options for vegetarians (black beans and salsa, refried beans, veggie ground ‘beef’ (I recommend Yves), grilled veggies & taco spiced tofu etc).

I think someone earlier in this thread suggested having some of the basic taco fixings on the tables, ‘family style’, this could cut down on buffet or food station line-ups.

I also still think food trucks are a great option for this – but it would have to be plural.

Ughh, I hate tacos. Will you be serving a salad or something for other people?

I can only imagine the mess it would make, spilling, getting on people’s clothing.

But like others have said…know your audience.
