you can have a taco/salad bar… Its basically the same toppings… for those who are above tacos lol  or just want a salad! Super cool idea btw!

I don’t think  it’s tacky. I just don’t think it’s something most people would choose to tackle in dressy clothes.

If I were going to do that I would go all the way and provide bibs like they do for lobster and crab feasts.

barnbride724:  I LOVE tacos. Tacos are their own food group in my mind so I say go for it. Sure it’s a bit more casual than the typical wedding food but who cares? it’s tacos!

I think that is a neat idea. And its want you two want. I would make the option of being able to make a taco salad, and have different meat options like chicken/beef and fish(schrimp?). Fish taco’s are a new restraurant craze!

Tacos are awesome!  And probably better than, oh, about 99% of wedding food I’ve ever had.

Mmmmm tacos! I agree with PP’s, just make sure you have a variety of fillings to suit everyone’s taste & I’m sure most (possibly even all) will be pleased.

I know a couple who had a taco/burrito bar at their wedding. I think it’s sensitive to guest’s needs if you have things like fajita veggies, lettuce, tomatoes, etc. that they could make a simple salad out of if necessary. It’s YOUR wedding, not theirs, so don’t make that your main concern. Places like Qdoba or Chipotle can cater this nicely if you have those chains in your area. Good luck!

barnbride724:  do it!!

we are doing a taco bar for our outdoor, rustic/country style wedding June 2015.

Every single person that I have told has been thrilled. And we are so excited about it!

Theres pretty much something for everyone at a taco bar! We’re planning something like:

taco beef, shredded chicken, beans (all in crock pots)

some kind of rice, maybe a plain rice and a seasoned one

hard shells, soft shells, nacho chips.

So many Veggies. I love veggies. Bring on the veggies!

homemade salsas and guacamole, sour cream, shredded cheese.

anyone who is really not interested in tacos can make a salad, a plate of nachos or just eat chicken and rice and veggies or something.

Whether you’re vegan, gluten free, dairy free or just plain picky, there is something for everyone!

Personally, I think you can’t go wrong with this plan 😉 plus it’s fun, a fresh change from a typical plated wedding meal, and easy to prepare and self-cater. And seriously, not a single person has turned their nose up at the idea!

I would be totally psyched for taco bar at a wedding. Having lots of options will help make it appealing to guests, along with guacamole…because it is the bessst.

barnbride724:  whattttt??? Can i come to your wedding???

Since you say its a taco bar, can you have it where you can make your own taco? Have several options for filling.

We had an ice cream bar and thats what we did. We had someone to serve the ice cream and then you put whatever toppigs you want

barnbride724:  Go for it! Most people LOVE tacos! But, I do know a few who don’t. So, I would look into having more… bland (for lack of a better term) option for those people who don’t like the taste of Mexican seasonings.

We toyed with the idea of having a hot dog bar at our reception in addition to other meal options. We have a local restaurant that is known regionally for it’s hotdogs. We decided against it, but I think you should go for it!
