We’re having a very casual, intimate, backyard wedding and we’ve decided to go with a taco bar for dinner. This is the list I’ve come up with for fillings, toppings, and sides. Is it broad enough? Is there anything that I’m missing? Any additions needed?
-Seasoned Black Beans
-*Shredded Cheese (totally missed that when I typed the list up here)
-Mexican Street Corn
Thanks for your help bees!

I suggest doing a grilled veggie side as well – green and yellow squash and onions always goes really well with tacos and makes a good option for people who want less (or no) meat – I guarantee you’re going to get some bees on here going “what about the vegans and vegetarians?” whether you know you have them or not.
Also super recommend pico de gallo – that was the biggest hit at our rehearsal dinner. Ours was homemade but I’m sure from the store is good as well!
I don’t see cheese on the list at all! I know that’s just an oversight And make sure you’ve got fresh tortillas and chips, of course. And some like black olives as well. That’s all I can think of at the moment.

i like black olives in my tacos
also, you missed shredded cheese

skunktastic : Good ideas! It’s funny you mention vegans and vegetarians because I actually am vegetarian! lol and cheese was definitely an oversight!

ajillity81 : Will definitely add black olives and thanks for the cheese reminder, I somehow left it off the typed list!

blissfullyshelby : I forgot bell peppers in the grilled veggies suggestion – I hate em but most people are into that.

We are doing a DIY taco bar also! I would suggest pico de gallo and a chipotle or creamy chili sauce! I’m the weirdo who doesn’t like taco sauce or guac so I always opt for chipotle or creamy jalapeño sauce.
There may also be a few bees who will tell you that tacos are “too messy” or “too tacky” for a wedding even after you make it perfectly clear that the whole shebang is pretty casual. Just ignore them. The last taco bar post went a little haywire when a rather annoying bee said that regular tacos are extremely tacky but gourmet tacos are okay 🤷♀️

The black beans would be veggie right? If so I’d be happy.
Do you need refried beans too in that case? Maybe do mixed roasted veggies type thing and one beany veggie dish?
UK-bee : Yup, the black beans will be a vegan friendly option. I love black beans and Fiance loves refried, so we figured we’d just have both!

smalltownbigworld : They’re totally free to their opinion, but we like tacos, our families like tacos, so we’re going to enjoy our messy, yummy tacos 🙂 If they don’t like it, they weren’t even invited anyway lol

I know you’re a vegetarian, but just make sure the rice and beans are vegetarian!!

blissfullyshelby : yum. Yeah I’d love this. For our evening catering we did similar (all veggie) with a beany chilli and loads of salads and sides and wedges. Went down a storm with all the booze!

Cilantro. So much cilantro.
I absolutely LOVE peperocini (banana peppers) and find them to be AMAZING on tacos. Also, I can’t say enough good things about Chipotle Tabasco. I have a bottle in my desk at work and one at home and put it on EVERYTHING. So yummy. Also, some lime wedges for people to squeeze over the top of their completed taco creation.
I don’t know what you’re planning, but I’d reccommend doing hard and soft shell as well as corn and flour tortillias so people have options. 🙂

This sounds delicious. I have nothing more to add.

I second the choice of tacos….I love soft tacos not too keen on hard shell tacos, but I love the larger taco bowls they have for taco salads (I’m contrary apparently 😀). I also like to make taco pitas so that’s another option.
