I like chicken or beef, salsa, hot sauce, cheese, lettuce. Pretty boring.

I have a friend that just puts meat and….mayo. YUCK!

I love the traditional taco! Hard shells, meat with a good taco seasoning, lettuce, onions, sour cream, cheese, some hot sauce – no salsa though. Maybe some black beans thrown in. Whenever we eat out Mexican I always order the burrito and I always regret it because I wish I’d gotten the tacos lol.

Here’s how we do tacos at our house:

Take a soft tortilla, smother with refried beans, stick a hard taco shell in the middle, stuff with ground beef, shredded cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, maybe some black olives and taco sauce and/or spicy ranch!

We just made chicken soft tacos this week.  We put them in our new panini maker (just got it at the bridal shower!) and it gave them those grill marks and lightly toasted the edges so that was yummy.

We had chicken with seasoning, jalapenos, tomatoes, salsa, and a little cheese.

I do greek yogurt too, instead of sour cream.  I like to do shredded chicken in my slow cooker – 1 package of boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs (frozen ok), 1 16oz jar of salsa, cook about 4 hours on high, shred with forks.

I usually serve it as taco salad over a bed of shredded lettuce with refried pinto beans, shredded cheddar,  tomato, scallion, avocado if I have it, cholula, crushed tortilla chips, and plain greek yogurt.  One of FI’s favorite meals!

@redheadem:  depends if homemade or not.  I believe store bought ones are high in sodium

@redheadem:  Try just using half the packet of seasoning.  Chicken is pretty bland, so I think you’d end up adding salt anyway.  Cook the ground chicken through, then mix 1/2 the packet with about 3/4 of a cup of water until well combined.  Pour over browned chicken and bring up to a boil.  Reduce to low and simmer 5-10 minutes or until sauce has sufficiently reduced.
