Im getting my dress made by Milly Bridal and they have sent me swatches of their materials. This is the pic of the dress and ive also tried it on in my local bridal shop and the original is made out of tafetta with the odd swarovski crystal scattered throught the skirt of it. It was really light and was comfortable but i think i like the idea of a heavier dress although not sure what it would look like made in satin… would it be too shiny and also would the crystals on the skirt sparkle as much???
Plus the taffetta swatch is more see through than the satin but not as shiny and im not sure if its my imagination but i kept thinking that tafetta felt cheaper because it kinda felt paper like
And how do you think the rouches would look in satin??? It might be too heavy and not sit out as much
What do you’s suggest????

I would go with taffeta so you wouldn’t overwhelm with the bling.
My dress is matte satin, so it has the heft without the shine.

Personally, I would go with the satin. I don’t know if it would be an option or not, but you could have the gown made in satin with a taffeta overlay.

Personally i’d go with the taffeta as I find the shine of satin too much.

I think if the dress were in satin it wouldn’t “poof” as much and the fabric will lay flatter as it is heavier. I vote for taffeta.

I would go with taffeta. It is so light, but you can still get the sturdiness without the heft and shininess of satin.

I’m not a taffeta fan. Love satin. But I’m not sure, satin may be too heavy for this type of dress.

What Kitty Kat said. I love satin myself, but this dress looks like it wants to be more taffeta like in lightness!

i’m not a fan of satin at all and would go with taffeta

i am also not a fan of satin and would go with the taffeta

I like the airiness of the taffeta. I think the satin might be too much with all the detailing

My dress had pickups and rouches and is made of satin and it is amazing. I love the luxury of satin and the beautiful sheen to it. I think it’s more of a personal choice because we all have different taste. I don’t like taffeta for the same reason you mentioned above. Plus it’s loud and sounds like paper rubbing against paper when you walk. I vote for satin, you dress will look amazing either way though.

Taffeta feels and ‘scrunches’ like a comforter, I find it bulky and it sometimes feels cheap …hehehehe….just my opinion. Satin has always felt more luxurious to me.
