Hi!!  we’re going in the end of Oct/beginning of Nov., which is the start of the “rainy” season.  From everything I’ve heard, it sounds like it is pretty good weather all year round, and any rain storms are pretty short.  Have you been on the boards at TripAdvisor?  There are some serious French Polynesia experts on there- i would ask them about the weather.  It’s also just a wealth of info!   I booked our trip through a TA, which I usually never do (I like to plan things myself).  For FP though, I found it difficult to do myself, because the transfers between islands are limited, and it was just hard to coordinate.  Not only did I use a TA, but I used a Tahiti specialist, who wasn’t local and who I didn’t even meet personally!!  They are based in Chicago, amd I don’t live anywhere near there.  Frankly, it still makes me a little nervous!  but I tried some local TAs, and they really didn’t know a lot about the islands- i knew more from reading the guide books!  It seems to be a really specialized area- it’s so far, adn really expensive, so not a lot of people go there!  anyway, I am soooo excited- it is going to be the absolute dream trip!  Good luck planning, and let me know if you have any qs on the islands!

We are also trying to get to Fiji/Bora Bora in January but the flights out of Los Angeles only leave on Fri, Sat, and Tuesday…we’re having a sunday brunch so we’d have to wait till tues. and Fiance doesn’t wanna do that…. anyone else having/had that problem?

Also (for january and rainy season) I heard if you’re west of the main island the storms and rain are not as bad

Where are you guys staying? I was interested in Figi but a travel agent told me it was really expensive and would be a waste to only go for 7 days… what do you think??
