I’m engaged! Ahhh!
My Fiance (it seems so weird to say that!) took me on a trip to Puerto Rico last week. We had a lot of fun: zip lining, scuba diving, tropical rainforests, caverns, etc. We had a really great time doing all sorts of adventures and ended up with the best surprise of all: a proposal!
We had taken a small plane from Puerto Rico to one of its smaller islands called Culebra. We stayed at this secluded beach property and were the only guests! After Fiance cooked me a nice dinner, we took a stroll to the beach. It was night and very dark out, so the stars were amazing!
We found a nice spot and sat down on some beach towels. A few minutes later, Fiance asked me if I wanted to see something he’s been working on. He pulled out these two wires shaped in circles. I was sooo confused! I thought to myself that they were kind of ring shaped, but what the heck was he doing with wires? (Turns out they were the first things he worked on with the jeweler as they custom designed the ring!) Since it was dark he told me to shine a light on them and I still couldn’t figure it out – probably thirty seconds later I realized that he had placed a ring box in front of me when it was dark! (He was sweating bullets at first when I didn’t immediately notice the ring box).
I have no clue what I said or anything, but Fiance says that I squeaked and said “What?” quite a bit. A few moments later he said “you never answered my question,” and then realized he never had asked! He quickly made up for it by asking me to marry him. He had fitted the ring box with a light so that I’d be able to see it at night when the box was opened. Of course I said yes, and he proceeded to tell me about the ring that he had made and the wedding band that we’ll get to finish together, since he couldn’t finish it in time.
It was all very adorable and I wouldn’t changed anything about it, even thought he forgot to ask at first. :-p Fiance also had a wax mold of the idea for the wedding band that we’re going to tweak a little before getting made. 🙂 🙂 🙂
I’ll post a picture in a little while, but it’s a purple sapphire with rose gold. It’s perfect!

Sorry that the pics are big – I tried saving as medium in iPhoto, but they didn’t seem to get any smaller. Haha.
So, it’s in rose gold, custom made, 1.38 carat, oval cut, purple sapphire! 4.75 size, and fit perfectly in Puerto Rico, but I think my finger shrank just a tiny bit when coming back to cold/less humidity, so we’re probably going to have it resized down to 4.5. The purple really sparkles in direct sunlight and I love how the color seems to change from a darker purple in a dark room to a bright purple in direct sunlight. 🙂
