Well, Bees, it happened! I had a suspicion that it would happen this weekend while we were away in Vermont and it did. It’s official after exactly 5 years, 5 months & 5 days, weirdly enough.
On Saturday, we started our little trip off with a hike..at the top of the mountain was a water tower. We climbed up and I thought that it might be the moment, but it was super cloudy and you couldn’t see anything. A very disappointing view, but I didn’t let it dash my hopes completely.
Later that afternoon, while driving through some breathtaking foliage, I asked Fiance (AHHH) to pull over so that we could take some pictures. We pulled over in this tiny town right along a small river. We walked down the river for a couple of minutes taking pictures and enjoying the scenery. Then, out of nowhere, Fiance looked at me and said “I just can’t wait any longer.” I really had no idea what he was talking about in that moment.
I wish I could say I remember all of what he said next, but honestly, I kind of blacked out. The next thing I knew, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him..and of course, I said YES!
I really couldn’t believe it for about 5 minutes..I even jokingly pushed him and he tripped over a rock and fell down. Smooth moves by me! But it was perfect. It was simple and private and intimiate and just totally US. I couldn’t be more excited.
And of course, here’s a picture of my beautiful ring. He did GOOD – it’s exactly what I never knew I wanted. I honestly can’t stop staring at it and it just sparkles so much. We’re both obsessed with it.
And here’s the spot (and some other pictures of the surrounding scenery) to set the mood.
It was an absolutely perfect moment, followed by the remainder of a perfect long weekend complete with delciious dinners, a whiskey tasting, an Oktoberfest and a chairlift ride up to the top of a ski mountain. Oh, AND the Patriots and Red Sox both winning in stunning fashion.
We had such a great weekend together and are still giddy about everything. It just feels SO GOOD to finally be engaged, Bees! Although the whole “fiance” thing is going to take some getting used to – saying “boyfriend” is still very much habit.
Thank you, wonderful Bees, for giving me distractions and for always being there with excellent advice these past few months.
