I’m so excited I don’t even know where to start. I knew he had ordered the ring and by comments I had figured out that it “should” be back to the jewelers around the 20th (Fri). I’ve been ridiculously anxious (the waiting boards can attest) about how long he would wait to give it to me. “Why do some men sit on rings for so long, do they think they will hatch?” So I have been thinking Christmas Eve? NYE? If he waits until Valentines Day I will die!
He mentioned a week ago that we should go out of town this weekend for a night or two so I got excited. Hmmmmm. But he never mentioned it again. Then Thursday night over the phone he said he might have something special for me Friday night if I was a good girl. (Eyes rolling). Hmmmmm. No ring Friday but he said we should put off Christmas shopping until Sunday because of rain and take a day trip to a vineyard Saturday. Hmmmm…… Then Saturday morning. Nothing, no mention, nothing. We got up early and fixed the electric dog fence (after wandering around the neighborhood looking for the dog). After lunch out of the blue he asks where do I want to go to dinner. He said it was my Christmas dinner and he wanted to make up for not taking me anywhere this weekend. Then he gave himself away. He said he had to run home and get dressed and for me to get dressed up and look pretty. He told me to look pretty 3 times! If I didn’t have some strong suspicions I would’ve told him off. I was pretty enough for you to date for 2 years but not now? 🙂
I got dressed, all excited. He comes back 30 minutes later than he’d said he would be back. He walks in the door and drops on one knee IN THE KITCHEN! It was perfect – we “live” in that kitchen. We fell in love in that kitchen and it’s our favorite spot to drink some wine and have long talks. I cried and had a Tammy Fae Baker mascara disaster. It was so wonderful because he was too excited to wait, he had come straight from the jeweler and had to wait an extra 30 minutes so they could set the stone with him watching. He said he had been calling them every day this week to see if it was in yet, thus the cancelled weekend trip, which got pushed back to a Saturday trip, then pushed back until Saturday night. The jewelry store manager had finally called the company and had it overnighted and it came in on Saturday, they called him mid-day and prompted the frenzy of dinner activity.
Anyway, so here’s the ring. By my avatar you can tell I’ve been waiting for this! Soooo sparkly! It’s hard to get a picture because it sparkles so much. Hidden in there is a 2 carat oval, E, VS2 – it is freakin beautiful. I’m so happy!
