Way to take charge Sunshine! I think its definitely true when you act like you dont care anyore it seems then that they care about it and want to bring it up. I am glad you were able to bring this topic up with him though!

Good for you! I stuck to my guns with Fiance and did not let him keep ‘forgetting’ about getting engaged within my 1.5 year timeline. Stick up for what you need, don’t let him call all the shots!

I am so glad to see this thread today! I have been getting frustrated lately thinking why do we always set back and let the guy direct the relationship when it comes to marriage. I mean we direct other areas in our relationship fine but when it comes to this well I am guilty of it too just waiting and waiting. Truly glad to hear that there are more bees on here that dont let the conversation fall to the wayside. Vent over! thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

@sunshine8: you rock, sister.  Inspiration to the rest of us.  Sometimes I definitely want to tell MNbf, “Cut the crap, Hamlet, make a friggin’ decision.”  Keep on keepin’ on.

@ mnfg:  I LOLed at “Cut the carp, Hamlet”. ๐Ÿ˜€

I had to give my Mr a push too.  Last summer we were having dinner and I told him “By this time next year we’ll have been together 5 years.  I think we should be married by then.”  Got my ring two weeks later.

@mngf – That line is one for the books ๐Ÿ˜‰

I sometimes feel this is the best way to give some dudes a kick in the rear to get them moving. I know I’ll probably have to do this since Boyfriend or Best Friend is so lazy – but its not time yet. We’re waiting for our finances, home and job situation to be set before we make any definite plans, which could take a couple of years so there’s no point in any plan of action as of now
