Proper hand hygiene involves no hand or arm jewelry below the wrist So yes I take it off. Germs get stuck under and on the surfaces of the rings and are not washed off with hand washing.
I choose to not wear my rings to work where I need to wash my hands frequently.
I usually only wear them to go out.

Do not take your rings off if you are out of the house and needing to wash your hands. Just remember to scrub the area under the ring. Taking them off might be “better”, but it’s not necessary. It only increases the likelihood of losing the ring. Also, the ring itself should be cleaned. What’s the point of putting a dirty ring back on a clean hand? Just wash with the rings on and dont worry about it.

I take my ring off to wash my hands and shower when I’m home since I have a little elephant ring holder in the bathroom, but I keep it on in public cause I would hate to lose it. I wear it cooking unless I’m man handling raw meat or dough or messy food like that (gave another ring holder in the kitchen). I will wear it while doing general cleaning but anything involving very hot water (including dishes) and/or harsher chemicals I remove it since it’s an emerald so pretty heat sensitive and a bit delicate.
