We didn’t take a honeymoon, because of work schedules, but decided before the wedding that we will go on a late honeymoon/vacation in February-ish. We’re drving from Oklahoma and heading southeast – and are wondering about points of interest along the way 🙂
I have never been out of the midwest before, so this will be a nice adventure for me. Going to travel through several southern states, and hoping the weather is good!
By The Way, for you Southern gals, how IS the weather in February? We get some crazy sleet here sometimes, I just wonder what it’s like other places…

We did a road trip honeymoon from CA to GA. I’ll skip the states that don’t apply 😉 We went to San Antonio for two days (the Riverwalk is like none I’ve ever seen), then on to New Orleans for two days (stayed at the Marriott two blocks from Bourbon and it was a really nice hotel). We heard Biloxi, Mississippi is beautiful, but we drove through at night. Have fun!!

I’m not sure how Biloxi, MS looks anymore. It was completely torn up from Katrina and they hadn’t built back up much since my husband’s family went down last year. I think the coast is mostly big hotels and casinos now since those are the only ones that can afford to completely rebuild.
I have heard that Dauphin Island, AL is pretty nice though we haven’t been down there yet. Might be too far over for you though!

Been to San Antonio!
Will check out Dauphin AL online & see what it’s about and where exactly it’s located. We are not opposed to veering off the beaten path 😛
Thanks for the suggestions 🙂

Check out Destin and Panama City Beach. Both are really nice areas and have some outlet malls. I am in Tallahassee and its a cute city with some stuff to do. I assume coming through Florida you would either come in South on 75 (coming south from GA) or coming East on 10. If you come in on 10 you hit some of those beach towns. Also, Jacksonville Beach and St Augustine are really nice on the East Coast.
As far as the weather goes it is still a bit chilly here in Feb. Probably not exactly lay out on the beach and get sun weather. If you get a hotel that has a heated outdoor pool you can probably go swimming. Obviously there won’t be any snow or sleet.
Also, remember Florida is a very long state. The drive from Tallahassee to Orlando is about 4 hours, Tallahassee to Jax is about 3 and Tallahassee all the way to Miami is almost 8. Think about that when picking your driving route because you could end up spending a lot of time in the car.
