Yes definitley call them! When we went to Mexico we called them. They asked our departure date and arrival date.

I also called my bank to tell them that I MAY use my debit card. You can use it in Mexico but I don’t know about Fiji.

Yes, you definitely should. I once had a credit card cancelled when I tried to use it to pay for my hotel at the end of my stay. The CC company up and cancelled it – that was their policy for ‘unusual use’. And they said it would take 2 days fedex to send me a new one (when i put up a HUUUUUUGE fuss on the phone). I wasn’t staying in the city for more than a day, so it was a real pain to figure out how to pay for my room with no credit card!!

Yes. Also check to see what their exchange rate will be or if there is a fee.

My Fiance and I are going to a resort in Fiji for our honeymoon as well! Our wedding is actually only 1 week before yours! Crazy! I wonder if we are going to the same place? I’m so so excited to go to Fiji, especially now when it is 15 degrees outside!

Anyways… To actually answer your question, we will be bringing both cash and credit cards to the resort in Fiji. I read that we are not allowed to tip individual employees, but may leave a gratuity that the resort then splits up between their employees at Christmas (to be fair). We know we will want to leave a tip since we will be doing some scuba diving, so we will bring cash for that. We want to do all the activities that they have as well and will bring credit cards for that (horseback riding, massages, ect.)

I know that there will be safes in our room, but I will be leaving my e-ring at home. Better safe than sorry I say!

You will definately have to call your credit card company.  You should tell them where you are going and what dates you will be there.  That way if it is used somewhere else then they will know that it is not OK.

Thanks for posting… I have to call my cc company too… leaving for Vienna on Friday for work.

Yes, definitely call them.  We forgot to call ours and had one credit card shut down on our cruise!  You def don’t want that to happen.  Just give them the dates that you will be gone!

We are going to be staying at the same resort the entire time. We are staying at the Garden Island Resort on the island of Taveuni. We are staying there for 10 nights. I’m so excited! I hope that your honeymoon is awesome, which I’m sure it will be. 🙂
