My Fiance and I have been racking our brains and scouring the internet tying to find the perfect location for our engagement pictures. We want a contemporar/modern feel & while the beach and parks are lovely it just isn’t us. Originally we were thinking a modern hotel or restaurant, but we can’t find one that 1) we like, 2) is in the surrounding area, and 3) won’t cost us an arm and a leg to rent a room or pay the fee they require to shoot there. Sooo… long sotry short, we are thinking of taking our pics at our wedding venue. It fits our style perfectly (obviously, we are getting married there!). I just don’t want to settle for some random location that doesn’t have meaning to us, and doesn’t capture the look we are going for. Our wedding venue does both those things, has meaning & captures “us” perfectly. What do you all think about taking our pics at our wedding venue??? Is it weird???

I was actually wondering the same thing. The venue is situated on 14 acres, so I’m hoping there won’t be too many repeats (I hope).

I took pictures at my wedding venue and they turned out so cute! I say take them wherever you want to! I don’t think it’s weird at all.

I’m thinking it would be kinda cool to have engagement pics at the venue, and then have some pics taken at the same spots and poses on our wedding day… Because then we could look at them like “here is before & here is as husband and wife”. And at least the location would have meaning to us. Thanks ladies!

FH and I have friends who had e-pics taken at their venue (outside of it), they added them to their wedding website. I thought it was cute, not weird at all!

Don’t you want the engagement photos to have a different feel than your wedding photos? What about picking a location that has some personal significance to you like the first place you met, your first date, or someplace that just the two of you like to go. In and around your neighborhood or home? Or just a part of town you like to walk around in?

we also took our engagement photos outside around our venue. I love how they turned out. we chose there because we love how beautiful it is and it gave our photographer a “trial run” of our site for the wedding day. we are getting married at an old restored barn and it is surrounded by beautiful fields, old stone walls and railroad crossings. I can’t wait to shoot at some of the same spots on our wedding day. i don’t regret it for one minute and you won’t either!
