I have been sleeping with my ring on lately, so my fingers get more used to having it on. My fingers swell a lot during the summer, and I’d rather my hand be used to having the ring on, then trying to stuff it on when we go somewhere.

I take it off for cleaning, or anything that gets my hands wet, really, but I always put it back on ASAP.  I sleep in it, too, and couldn’t imagine having it off for that long!

My fiance wakes first, but we usually leave around the same time, so when I’m in the shower, he keeps it on his pinky, and then as soon as I get out and towel dry, he says “Sarah, will you marry me?”  I still squeal with excitement every time hehe, and of course I always say yes ๐Ÿ™‚

I wear mine almost all the time. I take it off when I’m cooking, cleaning or running/exercising. I also take it off to shower in the mornings and I usually leave it off through my “getting ready” process until I brush my teeth before I walk out the door. When I’m cooking or cleaning I have a ring dish in my kitchen that my ring is on. In the bathroom I have a ring dish for it for in the mornings and when I exercise.

I take mine off to sleep and keep it in the same little jewelry box every night.  I have never forgotten to put it back on so far ๐Ÿ™‚

I wear mine almost all the time. I take it off for baths (although I leave it on for showers), washing dishes, cooking that involves getting my hands in things (kneading bread, making meatloaf etc) and gardening.

I sleep with it on. It was made 60 years ago and has lasted this long being worn 24/7 by my grandma so I think it’s safe to last a good while longer.

@Eva Peron: Me, too. I rarely wear it. As soon as I get home from work I put it right back into the box it came in. I think I am without it more than I wear it…I am just afraid of knocking out a diamond or hurting the metal with chemicals.

I can’t sleep with ANY jewelry on, ring included. So I put it back in the ring box every night when I go to bed. Like PPs said, just make sure to always put it back in the same spot, and you should be fine!

I have a mother of pearl thumb ring that I pretty much never take off (it’s lasted through 16 years of showers, cooking and cleaning–it’s tougher than it looks!), but all my other jewelry goes into the jewelry armoire SO got me 2 Christmases ago. It’s right by the bedroom door so I always stop there and put everything back on before I leave for the day.

I don’t take my ring off for washing my hands because I think that’s a great way to lose it (like in a public restroom!). I take it off when I go to bed and put it back on after I shower in the morning (I keep it on a ring stand on my nightstand), or if I’m going hiking or doing something that would be really rough on my hands. Or handling raw meat. Otherwise it stays on during the day.

I take off my ring the minute I get home and don’t put it on again until I leave for work the next day. I don’t sleep in my ring (or any jewelry for that matter) for fear I would scratch myself or my Fiance.

However, when I am out I never take it out as the PP mentioned it is an easy way to lose it.

@MissMeow:  Just curious….why did she say to take it off when you sleep?

@cherrycoke: Most likely because of the possibility of scratching yourself or your partner. Those diamonds are tough!

I have a pearl in my ring that is very special to me, so I’m protective of it. I feel like 50% of the time it’s not on my finger, which bothers me a bit. If I had it to do over, I’d probably have gemstone or just gold.

I also have a wide ring and hate the feeling of water under my ring and between my finger, so I always take it off when I wash my hands.
