I know there are a lot of people out there who are unhappy with their wedding photos for one reason or another. On my wedding day, it absolutely POURED rain, making it impossible to take any of the outdoor photos we planned. (I mean POURING rain, not “let’s take some cute pics with umbrellas” weather). While they will never be the same as photos taken on our wedding day, we are very happy that we decided to take some additional photos AFTER THE wedding.
First – we were heading to Germany the day after our wedding to have a second reception with his family. On route, we went to Paris for our honeymoon. We had our wedding clothes along with us, and decided to take some pictures:
Second, a few months after our return, we decided to take some of the photos we had PLANNED but were unable to take in Vancouver due to the rain. Luckily, we moved right across the street from the perfect location.
We even took a couple from our balcony (of course they cut the huge tree down across the street a few days AFTER we took the pics!)
Taking photos after the wedding was a good option for us, since my husband owned his tuxedo. He also has a good camera, and knows how to use it. Therefore, it didnt`cost us anything extra to take the photos. Beware though – its VERY embarassing to wonder around in public on a random Tuesday evening, in your wedding clothes, taking photos with a tripod!! Embarassing, but worth it in the end!
I just wanted to share, since I figure there might be some other bees in a similar boat!

That’s awesome. I thought about have my friend take pictures in Boston in my dress and stuff since our wedding was 30 minutes away and we didnt have time to do that, but my husband would have to rent a tux again unless he just wore a suit. But I also thought it would feel too odd/different since it wasnt my wedding day anymore, and that I wouldnt have that same happy glow trying to take more “wedding pictures”. Did it feel odd at all for you?

First of all, can I just say how jealous I am that you get to wear your dress again and again? I don’t think I could ever convince Fiance to take pictures after the actual wedding day. Second of all, these are gorgeous pictures! Both of you look amazing!

Those are beautiful, thanks for the encouragement as we are being forced to do the same thing. These really made me look forward to seeing that our pictures can be as great as what I saw in my head.

It felt KINDA odd. Like I mentioned in my initial post, I felt kinda embarassed. It felt a bit strange to be wondering around in our clothes, with no bridal party and photographer. Other then that, I really view them as portraits of the two of us, versus pictures from our wedding day. From that perspective, i’m super happy with them.
