I have a cheap necklace that’s exactly the same color as rose gold, and I love it, but when I was picking out my engagement ring it didn’t occur to me to get it in anything but white gold lol.

I voted mixed metals. I’ve decided to get a yellow gold eternity band to go with it because Fiance decided he wanted a two tone white & yellow gold wedding band, and I decided a) I liked the idea of matching him a little and b) I love the contrast! And I just now decided that personally it’s my favorite color combination for mixed metals, but obviously I’m biased. Btw, I’ve had my engagement ring for seven months, and personally don’t yet see any reason to get it redipped, but I can see why some people might.

I’m a big fan of mixing metals.  My engagement ring is platinum, and our matching wedding bands are half rose, and half white gold.  The rest of my jewelry is pretty equal parts white/silver, rose, and yellow.

Darling Husband and I have totally different skintones, and the rose part of the wedding bands looks good on both of us.  The best thing you can do is go try some on for yourself and see if you like it on your hand.

I have an 18k rose gold engagement and wedding ring, and in some lights they look closer to yellow gold. I wouldn’t have chosen 18k if I had chosen my rings, but I absolutely LOVE the warmth they give. I do think they suit some skin tones better than others, and yes, it may seem that rose gold is extremely popular at the moment, but it is a precious metal and they never date. I had always wanted rose gold as I have been wearing it for a long time, but I do think if you have doubt in your mind then go for something that you truly love.

@FleeSircus:  I’ve always heard that it’s not so much about being pale or tan and more about what the undertones in your skin are.

    • Warm skin tones (warm undertones–golden, yellow, peach) look best in  yellow or rose gold.
    • For people with cool skin tones (cool undertones–pink, red, or blue), white metals look best.
    • Neutral skin tones should look good wearing any type of metal.

And if you’re interested, this is a quick version of the skin tone test:

If you’re neutral, your veins look more teal than either blue or green.

@MissMarple:  Well according to the chart I guess my opinion is null and void about what looks best on me.

@FleeSircus:  I don’t know, that’s just what I’ve always read in magazines, and I think I fit the rule, but I’m sure some people don’t or perfer a different look.

All the metals are pretty y have a white gold wedding band & sometimes wish for a yellow gold but oh well. Rose gold looks nice but I don’t like it because it wouldn’t look good on me.

@hidingpearl:  Rose gold lover here! My watch, RHR (diamond band), necklace and many of my earrings are all rose gold. Hopefully my soon-to-be engagement ring will be too!!
It always makes me laugh when people say its “too trendy” and will “look dated”. Don’t worry about it! I think that rose gold is timeless. And besides, why wouldn’t I want my ring to represent the time/era when we got married? When you look at my mum’s set it is clear that she has been married a loooonnggg time (almost 40 years!). I love that about her set and one day it will be a truly unique and vintage heirloom for our family. My dad certainly wasn’t worried if the ring he picked for my mum would still be “in style” in 40 years, he just wanted to marry her. For this reason I dont think anyone should ever worry about any wedding ring or e-ring “going out of style” or “looking dated”. Go with what you love, its all about the love after all! Wink

And just for fun – here is the rose gold ring that we both love and will hopefully be on my finger one day soon!

@hidingpearl:  well, I just got engaged last night πŸ˜‰ BUT I can 100% say I don’t regret going with rose gold. It looks amazing, and I love it so much more than the white gold berricle ring I have in a similar style. And honestly in person the look is so subtle! What does your SO think? When I was on the fence I asked him and he picked RG and I decided then to go with it and have never looked back. He told me last night anyone he has shown a pic of the ring to has immediately commented on the RG and how beautiful it is.
