haha Darling Husband trips me out! We went to the mountains this weekend and passed by a place we looked at to get married a while back. He mentioned he wanted to do our vow renewal there. He then asked “Its every 10 years right?” haha sure hun.. If thats what you want. Where do these guys get these ideas of things? Renewals, upgrading rings? Ive never mentioned any of this to him!

This made me laugh. Darling Husband has mentioned once or twice the idea of “upgrading” my ring or getting me a bigger diamong someday. i Have informed him that he had better not touch my ring! If he wants to get me another piece of jewelry he can, by all means, but this is the ring he proposed with and this is the one I want to wear!
People are funny about vow renewals. They seem to be getting more popular. Personally I would probably wait until 25 years in or something. Still, it’s sweet to know that he’s already looking forward to the next 10 years, isn’t it? 🙂

@jesssamesssa: Ha! Yep every 10 years you have to!

@missrain: It is super sweet! I have no idea if we will do that but knowing he is thinking about that makes me feel really loved. Like he is 100% not leaving EVER! haha love it!

I think that’s beautiful.
My husband and I are renewing our vows next fall. It will be our fifth anniversary. I would have waited until our tenth, but my parents are leaving the country to retire and I want them to see this as a send off. I also do not think my mother will be alive in 2020; people tend to die young in her family.

I had never heard of it until I saw Wedding Bee. I might consider it after like 30+ years, but otherwise I think it’s kind of silly. To each his own though!

Haha, love it!
People asked my grandparents if they wanted to do a renewal for their 50th anniversary, and they thought it was funny! They were like “We’re old, but not so old we can’t remember getting married!”

I think we will probably “renew” at 10 yrs, but in a very private, just the two of us kind of scene. We are planning a big vacation road trip around Lake Huron with lots of hiking and sightseeing. I imagine we will probably say our vows to one another while watching the sunset over Lake Huron (on the Canadian side). No ring upgrades or anyting just an affirmation of our continued commitment to one another.

I didn’t know that vows expired! I thought they were “til death do we part”!

@jesssamesssa: LOL! Yup, if you don’t re-up every 10 years, you’re no longer married. :p
When I was a kid, the priest at our church would occasionally do short vow renewals for couples in the church who had been married 50 years. There was no fuss; he just would stop the service to have them reaffirm their vows and then he’d tell the husband to “kiss the bride” and everyone would laugh. It was very cute! But definitely nothing like what couples do these days by throwing themselves whole entire weddings every 5-10 years!
