- Wedding: July 2015 - Bali
We are really splurging for our honeymoon. We are not well off by any means, but we plan to start trying for kids once we are married and we really wanted one last self-indulgent splurge. We are from Australia, our honeymoon will be 5 weeks in the USA in July/August. It’s costing about $25000. Ridiculous, I know. It’s more than our wedding. A large part of that is going on flights as it is about 16 hours to the USA from where we are, and we decided to upgrade to premuim economy so we have a chance at sleeping semi-comfortably.
Needless to say, there’s not alot of spending happening at the moment as we are saving like crazy and picking up extra shifts, but it’s going to be so worth it.
Here’s the plan:
Pittsburgh (DH is a Pirates fan, I might just drink lol)
NYC (for my BIRTHDAY!)
Boston (Baseball again)
Florida for a 7 day cruise (Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Haiti, Cozumel)
A week in Disney World (Eeee!!!)
Back to SF
Coming back home will be depressing lol. It will be winter and we’ll be broke and fat haha.

We’re spending 11 nights in Bora Bora – I’ve never taken so much time off work and I am so excited! We’re using frequent flier miles to fly business class to Tahiti, so fortunately we don’t have to worry about flights. However, our hotel stays alone will total around $12k (we’re staying in overwater bunaglows at two different places), not to mention meals and activities. It’s a splurge for sure.
Part of me feels like we’re taking so much time off work and spending so much money that we should go somewhere like Europe to explore and experience the food, culture, etc. However, we’re having a destination wedding too, and I think once we get through the stress/logistics/planning of that, all I’m going to want to do is lay on a beach for 12 days!

Your honeymoon sounds amazing! I’d kill for five weeks away. 🙂 Also, can I suggest a day trip to (or spending a night in) Napa or Sonoma while you’re in San Francisco – it’s truly a magical place and only an about an hour away.

2 weeks in Florida to do Disney, Universal and other american goodies 😀 We expect total cost will be $8000 including flights from NZ and internal US flights, accomodation, food and park tickets. Can’t wait! It is a total luxury which we do not usually do, but this is our once-in-a-lifetime trip!

- Wedding: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Our honeymoon will be 3 weeks long. The wedding will be in Dominican Republic so we will be spending a couple of days there. Then we are heading out to Italy, Greece, and Paris. Estimated cost is $6,000 which includes tickets and hotel. That also includes the 4 nights we’re spending in Dominican Republic before the wedding and 4 nights after.

We went to the Maldives for seven nights, then Thailand for around nine nights. Also had to stay in Kuala Lumpur either side. We are from Australia. Our honeymoon was around $12,000 or so. Maldives was amazing. Wish we spent longer there, but expensive. Make sure you go all inclusive in the Maldives to keep cost under control 🙂

We’re considering stopping for some time in LA before heading to Bora Bora. Where did you stay in LA?

We were thinking about doing a wine tour to that region but I wasn’t sure how far away it is. Glad it’s not too far. Thanks for the suggestion!

We are headed to Barcelona for a few days, then we’re taking a Mediterranean cruise for 12 days which ends in Venice. We will head to Rome and fly home for a total of 17 days. Our flights from Ottawa add up to $1800, the cruise was $6600 (balcony), the hotels in Barcelona and Rome should be free (points), so with spending money etc it will probably be about $11,000.

We’re unbudgeted at the moment but are planning 2 weeks pre-wedding in LA, Las Vegas and San Fran. Then wedding on Maui and another 2 weeks in Hawaii. I expect it will be in the 10-15k+ region..

Two weeks in Hawaii – one week on Big Island in an entire VRBO beach house in Kona (with a jacuzzi and pool!), 4 days on Maui at a tiny b&b in the Upcountry/base of the volcano (so we could easily do the sunrise and not deal with West Maui crowds), 3 days on Oahu in a 3-4 star hotel a little bit off Waikiki Beach. Car rentals the whole time, including jeeps on Oahu and Maui.
Total about $10k, we also used a honeymoon fund and most of it was a wedding gift from my dad.

We are in the process of planning our honeymoon now…I think it will be 3 nights in either Muscat or Dubai, 7 nights in Sri Lanka then 10 nights all inclusive in the Maldives… it’ll probably end up costing about £10k including travel and spending money which is almost as much as we are spending on the wedding!

We are spending AUD $10,000 on flights from Sydney to the Maldives, 5 nights in an overwater bungalow, all inclusive alcohol etc, then another 3 nights at Shangri-La in Singapore, then flying back to Sydney. I CAN’T FREAKIN WAIT!!!

Where did you stay in Aruba? We are considering doing 1 week all inclusive, and 1 week without so we can enjoy the local restaurants and bars.
