He had bought it but didn’t bring it. My dad could care less what it looks like lol and I liked how it was more of a surprise when I showed them

Nope! But we knew we would be going through a friend of the family to get my heirloom stone set, so we needed my dad on board first before the ring could happen, lol.

@SweetBeets:  My SO has said that he wants the ring before he asks for my dad’s blessing.

He asked for my dad’s blessing over the phone, so not in person and therefore didn’t have the ring on him, but it’s my grandmother’s wedding set, so my dad already knew what it looked like.

@SweetBeets:  I don’t see why anyone should feel like they have to have the ring on them while asking for the blessing. Showing the ring would not be a necessity in my mind, but if the guy wants to do it then more power to him.

My FI did ask for my dads blessing, and also brought the ring with him. I believe he was just so excited and couldn’t wait to show it off!! lol

First time around the block my ex-husband had the ring with him. Mostly because he put asking off till the last minute because he didn’t like my parents. I don’t know if he showed my parents the ring (probably he did) but I know it was on his person because he asked me an hour later on a walk around the lake.

This go around no blessings asked. He told his parents yesterday and I called my mom today. We bought the ring today but it won’t be ready for 3 weeks. Once it’s official we’ll call everyone else. Just trying to keep the parents in the loop. At 40 I would die laughing at my 37yo SO asking my extremely quiet and shy 75 year old father (who is 7 inches shorter) for my hand. Everyone would be laughing and my dad would just mutter for him to ask my mom!  Haha!  I have decided that in the small ceremony we intend I want my 13 year old son to walk me down the aisle so maybe SO needed to ask his blessing???

I chose other, because FI had the ring on him but he didn’t take it out of his pocket! So silly.

He asked my parents at my home while I was there, so I think he was worried I would walk out while he was showing off the ring. My parents did not see the ring until I sent them a picture.

My family lives 4 hours from us, so he asked my Dad over the phone!

But I don’t think he would have brought the ring with him… My family can’t keep a secret!

My FI brought the ring while asking my dad. He also told my step mom she could try it on… she said no!
