I’m only 5’10” and I had to order my dress made with extra length so I am sure you will have to do the same. I believe most dresses are made for women about 5’6″/5’7″ because almost every dress I tried on showed my ankles—it was actually quite funny.

You’ve got plenty of time and when they measure you for your dress, they should address the additional length. Sadly, there will likely be an additional charge for the length, but it will make all of the difference on your special day.

Congrats & best of luck to you!

I made a skirt but will be wearing my moms dress, even though it is a bit short. I’ll be barefoot though.

When I was entertaining the idea of buying a dress, I was going to have to order one with extra length. I’m 6′. I understand the issues in finding anything long enough!

Well, I’m 5’11” and no dress I tried on showed my ankles, but with heels some would need to be ordered with a custom hallow to hem which is normal for all size brides. The Justin Alexander I wound up buying is actually too long by a few inches!

Most dresses are actually designed for the 5’9-10 range as that’s the average model size…

we are out there! yay! i’m 6′ and found that most of the dresses i tried on were too short.  for that, be sure to get additional length, but most importantly (well, depending on your build – i have a long torso and a long waist so dress shopping of any sort is always a pain for me – and do you remember when j.crew sold their dresses in tall? why did they go away?!?!) get a hem-to-hollow measurement, because if you’re like me, ordering extra length on the bottom doesn’t address how sometimes my butt would be 3″ lower than where the ‘dress’ wanted it.

one ray of hope is that some designers naturally have longer dresses.  i was really lucky and bought my dress at a sample sale (romona keveza), and it’s long enough.  i can’t wear heels (which i desperately want to since the boy is taller than me), but i could probably get away with kitten heels if any cute ones existed.  keep us posted, okay?! good luck!

@iheartjeff3: “petite” is an interesting word in fashion. Most petite clothing is made to fit those who are 5’4-5’5 which is actually the height of the average woman. Now those of us who are truly petite (5’0 100 pounds) are kinda in the same boat as all the tall girls on this board!
