I am having centerpieces that sound like what you’re looking for.  What the florist is doing is filling the vase up with these clear tiny balls (like those air fresheners) and sticking the LEDs in there.  I don’t have a picture but it was gorgeous when she showed me.  Hope this helps!

Hi there!  I worked in a floral shop for a long time and now do florals on the side.  We did one just like this.  The top of the trumpet vase we used a design dish.  I posted a lonk below, but it is basically a shallow dish that you put the flowers in and it will sit insidethe trumpet vase, just make sure the measurements match up.  http://www.afloral.com/Floral-Supplies/Floral-Containers/Plastic-Clear-Design-Dish-6

Add FloralFoam in the dish and secure with florist tape, make sure to soak the florafoam if you are using real flowers.

To light the vase from within, we attached a samll LED Floralight on the undeside of the dish with floral tape.  No one knew it was there because the flowers hung over a bit and covered it from the outside.

To assemble we took the vases and floral tops to the venue separately, then we filled the vases with water, added food coloring, we made our water light pink.  Turned on the floralight and put the dish on top of the vase and voila!  I lovely glowing arrangement.  If you need help feel free to PM me!  🙂
