Fellow beautiful Brides! I need your help with wedding dress sizing issues. I’ 5’10” 180ish pounds. I have two wedding dresses – ballgown for ceremony and fitted for reception. One is a size 12 Jaqueline Exclusive 19850 (Lace-up) ballgown. I also have a fitted size 18 Christina Wu 15417 (zip up). They both fit perfectly when purchased! The size descrepencies are large I know but the fitted dress is super tight! I mean like very fitted – the dress design runs small.
~Here is my dilemma ~
I’ve been losing a lot of weight as of late and I’m afraid I am going to have issues fitting both of these dresses. I am currently about 180 pounds – and the size 12 lace up fits perfect! However the size 18 which fit about 10 pounds ago now is VERY loose! How does 10 lbs make a dress that loose!?!?!??? ANyway, I’m wondering if there are any other brides similar to my size 5’10” 180 pounds 38-28-39 that can tell me what dress size they ended up wearing on their big day. I’m worried I will have to do alterations to BOTH dresses which is going to eat at my budget.

I’m almost exactly the same measurements as you and half an inch shorter. I haven’t got my dress yet but have tried on everything from an 18 to a 8 that have fitted. Last one was a sophia tolli size 10 fitted like a dam glove. Do you plan to loose more or stay as you are? If one fits perfectly and one is too big then i think at any weight one of them is going to need to be altered. So aim to fit in one and alter the other. Maybe fit in the one that would be the hardest to alter!

hellokittybride15: 5’10” I was 170 lbs at my wedding and 41-34-43.
I wore a size 14 Pronovias that had a fitted bodice.

Thanks ladies…The size 18 (zip-up) is heavily beaded but the consultant swore up and down that the seamstress could alter it down 2 sizes! WOW! I spoke with her and she has full confidence she could do it…oddly the size 12 lace up is the one that can’t be altered as easily but it does have that nice lace up which i’m hoping I can just have my Maid/Matron of Honor tie SUPER tight lol 😉

Hmm if it can’t be altered i would question them saying it can be! I’d have thought altering that beading would be super expensive! I wish all dresses came with a cost of alterations attached. The dress i quite like i’m put off because alterations will cost a bomb!
Stick a corset under the lace up dress you can get a few inches at least!

We have very similar measurments! I’m an inch shorter, 175 pounds and 39-28-41. I fit in a size 14 Jasmine Bridal perfectly. Bridal gown sizes are so odd!!!

I’m 5′ 10″, around 145 lbs, and measurements were 36-27.5-40 when I had my dress altered. I ordered my dress in size 10 for my hips, but had to take in the bust and waist significantly. My dress was a Jenny Yoo, which runs close to street size.
